Hi everyone! I'm new to this community and is hoping to get some feedback. I'm Chinese but is a native English speaker located in United States. I'm interested in teaching in either China or Taiwan, however, I've heard that they don't normally like to hire non-European looking teachers. I'm worried that I won't be able to find a job even after investing in getting a certificate. Are there any Asian teachers out there in Asia? Any feedback would be much appreciated!
Thank you! Yen |

Hey YLC229, it depends on the school, I know that when I was looking for jobs in China, some schools wanted asian teachers that were native English speakers. This could have been that the schools assumed they could speak fluent English plus Mandarin. Search agencies and websites to find contact details for schools and just email them. Do you want the internship or to go to China independently? It's just the visa process thats a pain with going independently. Message me if you want anymore info. Plus there are a few people on here that you can contact in regards to your question. I'll post their names in a minute when I look them up, so you can contact them. Nathan |

Thank you Nathan for your help. I am taking my Tesol course soon, and hope to start teaching in China. I am a native speaker, but I hope I will not face the same problem as Yen |
