Hey, I am heading out to Tangshan in less than a week, I was wandering if anyone has been to this area and if they can give me any advice on where to go, also if you have taught at the school I would appreciate hearing your experiences. Anyway would be good to hear about whats good in the area!

Hi Ali, I'm not a teacher there but I went to EF Tangshan a day ago. You'll meet Joe, who is the director, and some other teachers. As far as I know, they only have male teachers there. I don't know what kind of place you would like to go but if you need help or anything, you can contact me. I live there and I'd love to take you to travel around the city. :)

Thats, cool. I have a little while till I go out there, but is good to know someone who can help me if I need it!
thank you |

thats alright. i've been to foreign countries so i know what it feels like to be a foreigner. during my time in bangkok, although thai people were very nice, i still felt a bit lonely due to the language gap(therefore communication was not enough) and that i couldn't find a community. tangshan is not like beijing where most foreigners would go. so a community is even smaller and harder to find. also, only a few people can speak english. but anyway i hope you'll have a good time here. if you need a friend, let me know ;) |
btw, why did you choose ef tangshan? just curious. |
The school sounded good when I read about it! That and they didnt seem to mind the fact it was my first teaching job. Although I have had a bit of a panic recently as someone posted a very bad review on it the other day! But I am thinking it will be like holiday reviews where some people love the place and others hate it! So I will find out in a couple of days what I think of it. |

I'm also gonna be in Hebei province as of 16th Feb 2011 : ) |
Hi, I am in Hebei province too! I teach in Handan, not sure how far that is from Tangshan. |
@Rin Hi! um..I dont know how far it is too. but I guess an 1-hour train would get you there. how's life in handan? @Filter what city are you gonna be? @Ali i just heard that there's an ice adventure theme in the south lake park and you can ski, ice-skate, snowboard and so on. i think it's definitely worth a visit and it sounds really fun! i'm going to visit there but i'm kinda busy right now. maybe we can go there together when you arrive. |
Wow, its quite good to see others are around the province! I think when I just looked at a map Handan is a little way away!
But Valala that does sound pretty good to do! seen as most of the things you mentioned I rather enjoy! So Yeah I would like to go there.

Hey. Handan is cool. Pretty small city, but I've made lots of friends now and found all the good bars! ;) |
@ Ali Cool! So tell me when you're here. or we can connect on facebook. Do you have facebook?
@Rin it's good to hear that you've made lots of friends! I've never been to the city but I think it's pretty old, right? Like, 1,000 years? There's one chinese four-word idiom that has mentioned the city - handan xue bu (literally means "handan learns to walk"). |
I will be in Xingtai : ) |
Ali!! are you teaching at EF Tangshan??, I am too!, not sure when I'm arriving. |
