Hello All,


I'm nearly through checkpoint 5, but on my last attempt.  One of the last things I need to get a thumbs up on is my warmer and lead-in for my lesson plan.


I'm putting together a lesson plan to teach comparative adjectives.


On my first attempt I went in too strong teaching the target language in the warmer and lead-in, then in second attempt I didn't do any revision (too vague).


I think I've come up with a good warmer and lead-in for a lesson targeted to teach compartive adjectives, but I would like to get some feedback, or a thumbs up.


Thanks for all the help ahead of time...here it is:


Warmer: I packed a bag warmer to revise adjectives. Teacher starts by telling the students about what he/she has packed in their bag for school today using adjectives to describe the items in detail.


Today I packed a big backpack for school, and in my big bag I put:


A large apple


A large apple, and a skinny book


A large apple, a skinny book, and a thin pencil


Continue on with more stuff in the backpack...


T-S 2 minute


Lead-in: Ask the students while going around the room to share items which they've brought to school today, in which they'll use adjectives to explain the objects in detail.


S-T 3 minutes

I don't think "skinny" is a commonly used adjective to describe a book. I've certainly never heard a book described as this but it may just be where I'm from. Similarly what is a "thin" pencil? All but novelty pencils are thin so it's maybe not the best adjective to use in the warmer to a lesson about comparative adjectives. There is another way to describe pencils. It may also be helpful to the students to write the revision adjectives on the board so that they can be compared (oooh irony!) to their comparative forms later in the lesson. I'm not really sure what you mean in your lead in but I think you need to be more specific. Please excuse me, it's very difficult to give advice because I don't know exactly what they are looking for I only know I passed. Best of luck!

I appreciate you taking the time to give me some feedback.  Agreed, I could probably use better adjectives to describe the items, I will make some changes.


I may also try to add more detail to the lead-in, making it more easy to understand.


Other than these changes, I'm guessing the warmer and lead-in are acceptable for a lesson plan aimed at teaching comparative adjectives, but need to be revised a little.


If anyone else has any feedback it would be much appreciated!

A big thanks to everyone that helped on this...wilsonneil, my tutors, and so forth.  I finally passed checkpoint 5, after a lot of hard work, I'm really happy!
