I'm starting an i-to-i volunteer teaching trip in India next month, just finishing the online TEFL course, and want to take a book with me to support my teaching and give me lesson ideas. As there are hundreds of TEFL books available now, I'm hoping for some advice on any particular ones which stand out, especially for helping first-time teachers working with young children, as I've been told the age range is up to 12. |

Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm going to Bangalore for 6 weeks. My first taste of real teaching to see if I enjoy it as a job! |

Cool! Best of luck with it - you'll be absolutely fine and it should give you a great taste of life in the classroom. Btw, you might want to check out this post on our sister site, Campfire: http://www.i-to-i.com/campfire/TaylorFlores/posts/944-Handy-cheat-sheet-guide-to-survival-Bangalore-India Should come in handy for getting all your preparations for Bangalore together!
Good luck and keep us posted on how you get on! |

If you are going somewhere with no books it's always good to take good old Murphy with you ( http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=essential+grammar+in+use&x=13&y=17) to refer to for grammar exercises. If not then honestly the web is a great source of information - and seriously book weight takes a lot of shoe weight! |
