Hey Chloe,

I've done the weekend course and it's a lot of fun (albeit a bit tiring!) - you do lots of moving around/classroom activities etc, rather than just sat there being lectured at. You also have the chance to come up with your own lesson plans so come prepared to be creative! There's a video here that gives you a little sneak peak: http://www.tefl-chalkboard.com/i-to-i/videos/5

There's nothing in particular you need to take, apart from maybe pen, paper and your brain of course!

Enjoy it and let me know how you get on!

I would take a pen/pencil and large pad for your lesson plan, I don't remember needing anything else.  You get a coursebook which is worth reading as soon as possible afterwards.  It's quite challenging at times and, as Honor says, very interactive.  At first I felt daunted because you have to get into pairs and then teach the rest of the class a couple of phrases in a foreign language, but when you get down to it, it's much easier than you think to message over, so it's very encouraging in the end.

One thing worth noting is that it is possible to fail if you are very late - one girl on my course had missed a train and was worried but I think she was ok in the end, as she did have a good reason.

Good luck!

THANK YOU!

It will all start tomorrow. Excited and nervous!!
I am getting all prepared with what you have suggested and I have my travel plans sorted too.

Also is this weekend is purely a practical weekend, or are we assessed?

Cheers X

Hi Chloe,

It is assessed yes - but don't worry, as long as you're there on time, get involved and listen to the feedback from your course tutor it's very very unlikely that you'll fail - we only get a handful of people each year who don't make the grade.

Enjoy the course!

Hi Lottie,

If you log-in to your online account (http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-course-login/) you'll be able to see your weekend TEFL course there - just click through and it'll give you venue details. If you have any issues drop the guys in courses an email at courses.teamuk@i-to-i.com and they'll be able to help you out.

Enjoy your course this weekend!

Hello,

I am about to sign up for an online course (most likely the 120 hour), but I may consider adding on the weekend course at a later time. For those of you who have completed the weekend course, is it worth the extra money and time?

Hey Courtney,

I have done the weekend course and found it really useful, especially if you don't have any previous teaching experience. I was suprised at how much I learnt so I would say its definitely worth doing a course which includes the weekend course. It is a long weekend, but its only an extra two days that is added onto your course and is really worthwhile.

When you go for the weekend course, there is one in england which takes place in an inn, can't remember the name right now but that got me thinking, do we have to stay in said inn or do we have to book into a hotel or something nearby. Also when we book the weekend course we have to pay for the flights (for those who have to travel abroad to do it like me) ourselves right? I mean it's not included in the course price? And last question would be: when we order say the 120h course we can book the weekend course whenever we want or do we have to book it as soon as we pay the whole 120h course?

Thanks for the help.
