Hi guys, I was recently tasked with finding job sites and opportunities all over the world, and Costa Rica was one of the countries to be featured! This opportunity looked particuarly good, so figured I'd share it with you: http://www.interculturacostarica.com/efl_program.html If you're thinking about teaching in Latin America, I'd definitely recommend Costa Rica - while it can be pretty expensive, it's got a great vibe and the people are so friendly (I went there on a two-week trip recently and didn't want to come home!) So, who's thinking about teaching in Costa Rica? |

Me! isí! hablo español (well....más o menos) y quisiera enseñar inglés en cualquier país hispanohablante! antes de salir para corea del sur yo estaba viviendo en Guatemala. Me fui llorando : ( April Fools Day 2011 means to me:
1. South Korea end of contract bonus! 2. A year of TEFL experience on my resume: thanks to my ridiculous schedule this will include experience with students age 3 to adult! (I work so much here I think by the end of this I should be able to claim two years worth of experience. 3. A plane ticket home (or equivalent cash payout for a ticket somewhere else maybe Costa Rica) 4. Though as of right this second, without telling a lie I have 80 hours of TEFL Certification--but god help me by the end of the next two weeks...
When should I start making contacts? I know the job search process is a little different that direction--i imagine no plane ticket, no paid accomodations. Anybody here in already working Costa Rica? Yes, I'm interested. And interested in Ecuador. And Chile. And Argentina. And Uruguay. And Colombia. And Mexico......whatever really

I've just joined a TEFL course too!!! I'm thinking I should be done my Mid-Dec if I work at it everyday! I've got an English Language and Literature A Level so all the grammar stuff is pretty much a blow of win really. Just all the teaching procedure that I really need to learn. I'm most probably going to Hong Kong in February as I used to live there so I guess it might be easier to get a job out there? I really want to go Costa Rica around June time for 3 months before starting university in October. Do you guys know whether such a short time is available on contact or something like that? J :) |

Hi - I am interested in any and all info on teaching english in Costa Rica. I'm mid-way through TEFL certification and prepared to leave the US in the summer of 2011 if opportunities look promising. I am older (54) and have a strong background that has included teaching and public speaking (I was an administrator with 2 non-profit orgs) and am hoping that will serve in my favor in lieu of a formal degree. Feedback please! |

Dear honor, Thanks for that link to Intercultura Costa Rica, although I found that the positions for efl are volunteer and are for people who took their spanish course. Were there other paid positions offered that I didn't see? Any other advice on getting a teaching job in Costa Rica? Thanks.. Michelle |

Salliew, I am older, too (41) and considering teaching In Costa Rica and I have been there and loved it. Would be a plus to learn Spanish, too. I do not quite have the qualifications you do, however. HOw is the TEFL certification going? Are you doing it online? Let me know how it is going for you! Michelle |

Hello there! I am very interested in teaching in Costa Rica after I graduate this spring. Has anyone made it there and had success? My question for the moment is should I get certified before I go, or do a program right in Costa Rica and work on getting a job after I am already down there. Any information about teaching in Costa Rica would be amazing! Thanks :) |

Hi Everyone! I'm looking at teaching English in Costa Rica & wanted to find out more information about the contract times, accommodation, transport, general living, the pay & anything that I've left out. I'm wanting to master the Spanish language also hence why Costa Rica is on top of the list. I did think of doing this is Chile & Ecuador but wasn't so keen. If anyone has had or heard of any experiences please feel free to respond to this. Thankyou :) |

Hi,
I've been looking for an ESL job in Costa Rica for a while now. A lot of advice out there states to wait until you get out there and there'll be lots more opportunity. Does anyone know if that's right? and if not does anyone know of any sites where there might be some jobs available? I check all the obvious ones daily. Thanks |

Hi there, I'm just completing my 140hr course and really really want to go to Costa Rica to teach. Does anyone know information on getting paid work in Costa Rica or how to go about this? I see lots of people have asked, but it appears noone has really answered. I would love to fluently learn spanish, whilst teaching, and have always had a desire to go to Costa Rica.
Help please :)

im in costa rica. not easy to find a well paid english teaching position here and its super expensive. south korea or taiwan is a better option. you can volunteer in costa rica but then again you usually have to pay for the programme. yikes! |
