Hey y'all, I am wanting to book my flight for the internship, but I'm still hesitant. Originally, I was thinking that I would just book a one-way ticket, since I really don't know when I'll be leaving the country, or where I might even go when it's all said and done. However, I talked with a travel agent today, and he said that at times when entering the country they will want to see proof that you do actually intend on leaving at some point in time (pretty lame if you ask me). I think I had actually heard this before, but hearing it again has got me curious. I'd hate to arrive in Beijing, only to be denied access outside the airport until I purchase a return flight that might have to be changed and pay costly fees for doing so. Has anyone else heard about this or know anything about it? |

That's a good point! I'm only buying a one way ticket so I need to think about this too! When I went travelling, I found that buying a cheap bus ticket to another country usually sorted this problem and you don't lost much if you don't use it. I'd be inclined to look into booking a bus from somewhere in the South to Vietnam if we do need proof of an exit ticket. What did the people who are on the inertnship now do? |

I don't know, because I guess I haven't asked! I am heading to the embassy on Tuesday, so I am going to ask while I am there about that situation, but I like your idea of a cheap bus ticket out! From what I hear, open-ended tickets are insanely expensive, so I'd prefer not to do that. |

Okay, I went to the embassy today and submitted my application. When I was there, I asked the lady behind the glass wall about having proof of leaving the country. She said that it wasn't necessary, with the visa that I'll be receiving. I'm hoping that's correct... Honestly, she seemed a bit perturbed with the crowd that was there asking questions before me (such as people just jumping up to the window to ask questions without waiting their turn), so I don't know how much she actually thought about the answer. I'll be emailing my contact with TTC, just to be sure. |

I heard back from my TTC rep, and he said that a one way ticket is just fine. Yay!! |
