I recently turned in my application for the China internship in February and am waiting to hear back from TTC. I'm wondering how long the average wait is on a call back. I'm just getting anxious and nervous!! I have been working extremely hard on my TEFL courses and would hate to get declined. Is there anyone who is feeling the same way or knows how long it takes them to review an application and call for an interview? |
|
|
Hi Grace, I think it can take anything up to 4 weeks for them to call you from the time you send in your application. I know i'm anxious about it too incase I dont get accepted. Best thing is to keep positive and keep working on the Tefl course. Where are you travelling from ? |
|
|
Yeah, you're right. Just have to stay positive! I'm traveling from the U.S. Southwest Virginia to be exact! How about you? |

Hey, I actually got an email back from TTC this morning saying that they had recieved my application package and that they would contact me for an interview within the next 28 days (preferably on skype-which I have never used before!!). Has anyone else heard back yet? And does anyone know what kind of things they ask you in the interview cos I am very nervous now!!! Thanks guys! x x

Jen, I had the same email today and also want to know what to expect during the interview! Im really nervous, I wonder they'll want to do the video call and actually see us? I'd just put a smart top on and keep my pjs on the bottom half :)
Please let me know if you hear from anyone on what they ask :) thanks x |

|
Hey Guys, I got that email too! I don't think I can handle waiting another 4 weeks, i'm too impatient! Suppose I need to figure Skype out. No idea what to expect! |

Hi :) General questions are asked. Things like: Why are you interested in volunteering in China? Give a brief description of who you are? Do you have any previous teaching experience? Do you think you can adapt to a foreign culture and destination and if so what specific characteristic do you possess that will allow you to do so? Hope that helps :) They may not ask you guys these particular questions but I was asked questions along these lines when I applied for the Internship Program earlier this year. I would advise you to be confident but not too over confident( don't be arrogant) during the interview, be honest, open and engage the interviewer. Good Luck! :) :) :)

Thanks for everyone's replies! I better start preparing what I'm going to say! A friend of mine who did a different placement through I-to-I told me that they asked him some grammar questions but I'm hoping that isn't the case with this one! Does anyone know how long the interviews generally are? Cheers! x |

I recieved the same email! It went to my junk folder and I hadn't realized it! Best of luck to everyone on their interviews. Hopefully it will be good news for all of us. I'm trying not to dwell to hard on what kind of questions they may ask, I know it will make me even more nervous! |

Well i've just had my interview! I'm still shaking! although I had nothing to worry about, he was really nice! He just asked me general questions about why I wanted to teach in China, Why I chose Kindergarten and the south of China, and what qualities I have that will help me to adapt to the new culture in China. It wasn't as scary as I thought it was going to be. It only took 6 minutes. Good luck everyone!!!!! |

So I just had my interview and I think it went great! I was really nervous but she was soo lovely and had previously done the program so could give some good advice!
Questions were just asked like how different i think it will be teaching in China as appose to here, how I think i'll cope living in such a different place, why I chose the age group and location and how important these are to me etc It was more a general chat to get to know me and find out why I want to do this.
Should hear back within 3 weeks so fingers crossed! Good luck guys :D xx |
