Hi, My names Kim. Planning on going to China in February. Not sure which area to choose.... |
Hi Kim, I'm toying with the idea but haven't got all the info yet. I didn't realise you could choose your area- where did you get that info from? |
Yeah Im heading there myself. Apparantly you can pick between north and south china. Im still on two minds myself. its the right time of the year to go weatherwise anyways, averaging between 20 to 32 degrees I believe.
And colljef if you ring one of the itoi support team they should give you all the info you need.

Hi , yes you can choose an area that you'd prefer to go to . I've been reading other peoples articles that have already completed the Internship to see what they say. I'm really looking forward to it now ... going to start my TEFL Course in October. Have ye started yours yet ? |
Hi guys, i've taken the plunge and booked to go on it! feel somwhere between really excited and really sick! has anyone recieved the application pack yet? would be good to get things sorted xx |

The weekend course is great fun :) the online part, though. not so much, Im really looking forward to it, still not sure where i want to go though..... |
Yeah same here. Hard to know which part isnt it ? |
I'm going wanna go now really but we have to wait :(. I've already done part of my online course just got the small modules, the video course and weekend in cardiff to go. If anyones going to cardiff over the bank hoilday let me know. I dont really mind where I go as long as I get to see pandas, really cannot wait to see them, I'm a bit mad on them to be honest. Anyone decided which age group they wanna teach yet? @srispin I agree bout the online course some of the questions are stupid and its hard to get motivated without others around you. |

Hi Guys, I've just signed up for the Cina 2011 course as well...exciting!!But I've yet to start the proper application pack...what is the weekend Beijing course? Is that for the practical 20 hours? |

yes the 2 day beijing course is the 20 hr practical class to complete the 140hr TEFL course. i think we are the first group to do this in Beijing. How many of you you have started the online TEFL material? The grammar awareness section is quite a eye opener, maybe i should have paid more attention in english classes at school :) |
yeah i agree with that simon145 your certainly not alone on that one. i got to checkpoint 3 in the online, then went on to the grammer awareness. if anybodys in dublin and also struggling id be very interested in meeting up and helping each other out.

Hey Guy's, my name's Kamilla and i'm also hoping to go to China in February. I've already booked and paid for the internship and I have just started the online course, so hopefully I get accepted onto the programme and China here I come! I too am struggling to decide between the North and South of China as I don't really know much about it, but i've got a Lonely Planet Guidebook that i'm reading through at the moment to try to help me make my decision. If anyone has any inside information about the difference i'd be grateful to hear from you as the more information I have the better. To everyone that has booked themselves on the internship I wish you all the best of luck in completing the course and getting onto the programme and hopefully we'll all see each other in February x |
all the bits now e-mailed off. Now the wait to find out to see if i am accepted. Otherwise can someone please chose North as an placement option. i don't want to be Billy no mates in China ;-) Anyway can't believe i torn my hamstring muscle yesterday (damn tennis), so no work for a week (yay) so i can now get properly started on that TEFL course. |
Almost forgot. Before you guys start booking flights. Remember the Chinese New Year Eve is on the 2nd February. Would be good to get a lot of the people on the internship to turn up a few days before the course start on the 5th and experience how the Chinese celebrate. |
I've gone for South China too (Sorry Simon!). Being there for New Year is a must! Just need to start saving and working hard! Good luck to everyone with their applications!! |
I just signed up the other day, rather excited though not entirely sure how I'll fit studying in around work. Should be cool. |

Hello everyone, I been thinking about this internship since I saw this online. It definately sounds like a fabulous opportunity, and there are no shortage of mates you can make. I don't know much about the country and therefore will have to do some research on what area I actually want to live and work in. As for the age group, I don't know what age group I would like to teach, but at the same time, because I am looking to teach older people in future, I think I will go for the more challenging age group of early teens/seniors. Im a little bit scared about teaching 50 kids, but once I get through the orientation and the application process along with the online course, I should be fine. I have not booked as yet but I am looking to book towards the end of september and pay my deposit. I am a little concern about getting all the money together in time and I feel I am going to have to get a higher paid job as my cinema job is just not paying enough at the minute. Hopefully by the end of December/January I should have all the funds and it will be cleared ready to adventure to China. Hope to see you all there, and good luck with the program. I am living in England, London at the minute so most probable I will be in this City for the next six months, that is if I don't decide to go back to the West Midlands to live. I think this course will help me get onto my PGCE course next year, but I am also worried that if accepted onto the program, and i pass my online course and everything, If I get called for an interview between feb and June, I wont be able to come as I will be in China, and I dont want to miss out on doing my PGCE next year. It is kind of tight, I really don't know what to do. |
