I was reading about this program and the details. It looks like a good opportunity for me if I should decide to leave Ecuador in August. However, I have some doubts about societal issues in Georgia. I have known people to tell me that as an African-American; Russia is not a good place for me to go. I know Georgia is now been independent from Russia for quite a while but I was wondering if there is a racial prejudice influence that still lies there. I do not mind being among a different culture but I am wondering if Georgia is a good place for a single African American who wants to make friends and possibly have a girlfriend.

Hi Kallen, I'm not an expert on Georgia as I've never had the chance to go - but from what I've heard from Footprints Recruitment (who are running the program - i-to-i are just acting as introducers'), the Georgian government are really, really keen on getting any native English speakers on board, so I expect you'll be welcomed with open arms. I'd say that if you do decide to apply, Footprints will handle your application and will be able to give you much more information about whether or not racism is an issue in Georgia.
