I am not sure TEFL helps find positions for people in Taiwan. Anyone know of good sites or resources to find out more about opportunities there? Simply google searchers come up with a lot of things, but I'm sure some are better than others. |

Hi Tim,
I am in the same boat, I have found a few sites that seem pretty good try checking these out, if you come across any others please let me know. |

tealit.com.tw has several interesting teacher-wanted posts. Select the English version of the site on the upper right of the page. http://www.asianconsultants.com/ offers to find you a job. Demand is so high in Taiwan that I'm sure most English-teaching schools are willing to pay them a commission for finding them native-speaking teachers. |

Does anyone know if you had to be in an Universaity to be teaching in Taiwan? |

Hi there, Yes, you need a degree to legally get a teaching job in Taiwan. So you will have had to go to Uni. http://www.eslteachersboard.com/cgi-bin/forum/index.pl is a good source of info too. Great for meeting teachers already teaching in Asia and reviews of schools and recruiters and such. Along with http://middlekingdomlife.com/guide/ and http://teachabroadchina.com/TACA/. You should be able to find what you are looking at amongst this lot. Good luck! :) |

Hi everyone, I have spent the last 18 months living and teaching in South Korea. http://wanderlustontheroad.blogspot.com/ My contract will finish in August, so I would really like to teach in Taiwan. I was wondering if anybody could tell me how Taiwan is specifically different and the pro's and con's of living there. Thanks so much. |

Taiwan is fairly cheap and most of the people are very friendly towards foreigners even if they can't speak much of the language. |

I recommend reading Heidi Brione's BLog, "Teach in Taiwan" @ http://teachintaiwan.com/blog/. She provides the information you appear to be seeking. |
