Total hip replacement update

As of this writing, its 3:00am of Wednesday, the 10th of November in the year of our Lord, 2010. My total hip replacement surgery was Monday, the 1st, so I'm what... 9.5 days in. I wish I could tell you everything is going great, but I'm honestly not sure. I can imagine it being a whole lot worse but I know I'm not feeling as well as some of the glowing reports.

Part of why I'm even up writing at this moment is that I'm still pretty dependent on the Vicodin (Norco) for pain relief. I've tried going without, at least stretching it out, or switching over to Tylenol. All unsuccessfully. My prescription is for 1-2 pills, 4-6 hours apart. I'm pretty much right there at 2 pills every 4 hours.

Basically, there is only one place in the house where I'm more or less "comfortable" and it being here was not planned for. Its my Mom's electric lazy boy type chair that rises to get in. I spend the majority of my time there. To switch it up, I'll go to the futon sleeper in my office but its not comfortable enough that I've tried the whole night there yet.

One really discouraging thing is not being able to sit at the computer for any period of time. I'm about at my limits with it just having written this much. Tomorrow I plan on my daughter digging out my laptop to test out whether using it from my Mom's lazy boy will work at all.
