I've sent out a ton of emails to various schools in the area, but have not recieved any responses. I know that the best thing to do is to go knocking on some doors, for real... but I am not quite ballsy enough (or comfortable with my Indonesian to give directions to a cab driver when I need to get back home) to do that right now.
Does anyone have any suggestions other than actual door knocking?

I have yet to meet any teachers, but I did meet an expat who knows a lot of other expats that are here for various reasons. He has helped us with a few things already, and he says he's going to take me to one of the schools for introductions, but I am not sure when that's going to happen. I don't want to push him, because he has really gone out of his way for a lot of things.
There are a few other connections, but once again, I am waiting on other people for introductions.
I think you made me answer my own question. I either have to be patient or I have to get out and do some door knocking.
Have you tried tracking down other teachers in the area and asking their advice - if there are any particular expat hangouts it might be worth asking around and seeing if other teachers in the area have any tips!
Good luck - keep at it, and I'm sure you'll soon find something :)
