Log in to leave a comment or Create an accountHello, I am reading so much about China, and feel confuse about getting a job there without a degree. I really set my heart on Asia and see that China might be the "easiest" to get in. Am I right to think so?
Also, when you were looking for a job, did you pick a city or did you take what was offered? I guess Beijing, Hong Kong and Shangai are strict when it comes to have a degree.
Are you planning to stay in China for long?
Cheers,
Lena
Hi
I`m Portuguese and am undecided about whether I should take the TEFL course or not.
I didn`t finish my University course but I`ve got the Cert. of Proficiency and teaching experience in Portugal.
I wonder if the TEFL would help, even here in Portugal?
thanks
Thanks for your comment about finding an agent.... can you help and recommend where to find one? tks mike
Hey there, like your profile, rhymes and everything, impressive! all seriousness you're teaching in China? I am putting in motion moves to teach English in China, ideally the New Year. I have a Master's Degree and going to do CELTA. I want to do the sole route for obvious reasons as opposed to an internship and perhaps this could be a shift from my current legal professional path, basically want to live and teach in China for at least a year and learn conversational Mandarin. I seem to have hit a bit of a wall as to finding a reputable agency, contact to help me secure a job, are there any agencies, contacts, which you could recommend? Or perhaps I should contact Universities, etc. myself? How did you secure your job, especially without a Degree, etc. fair play!
Look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers,
Kim
Hello, hope everything is still going well in China! I was just wondering you recommend using strongVPN for access to banned sites i just want to check if it still works for you?
I travel to China soon (August 10th) so want to make sure i buy one that still works. The reason i ask is that someone who posted below you said he had troubles with strongVPN but im just thinking he must have been using pptp VPN from strongVPN only that can be blocked a little more easily than their open or pptp VPN, can you shed any light on the issue?
Hey thanks for the information ... I have been looking at other posts - One which you started Sep 4th 2010. So I see that you did get your TEFL ... and then went out with no degree.. as I've said before.. I'm looking to do an internship ... then move out of the big city to a smaller town... so you've had no problems getting work without a degree?
Thanks
Hello,
I read some of your post and I am looking for a job in China. I want to go ASAP. I am in a TESOL class and will be receiving my degree over the summer. I only have one class online left and can't get my degree until May (when they print them). So in the meanwhile I am trying to go overseas and work. Any suggestions? Please email me if you have time. Thank you.

Yeh, i don't mind the culture shock too much, thats what i want in a way...:) how did you go about getting work without doing the internship? was it hard at first ? i don't know wether i should wait until next year, but im really eager to get out of this country as fast as i can haha!!
