What is Chalkboard?

  • Chalkboard is an online Gap Year travel community powered by i-to-i.com.
  • It allows users to share their travel stories, images & videos with other like minded people.

How do I write a blog on Chalkboard?

  • Once you're logged in, click on the 'Add New Blog Entry' button on the user toolbar
  • Write your new blog post. Don't forget to 'tag' the new entry so people can find it easily in the future. You can choose to add the new entry to one of your Groups too.
  • Once you're done and you've clicked 'save', you'll be taken to the new entry
  • You can also see the new post on your profile page under 'Recent Blog Posts'

How do I upload my images to Chalkboard?

  • Once you're logged in, click on the 'Add New Image' button on the user toolbar
  • On the image upload page you can browse for a file on your hard drive. Don't forget to give it a name, a description and tag it with some relevant words. You can choose to add the new entry to one of your Groups too.
  • Once you've clicked 'create' you'll be taken to the new page that's been created for everyone to view your photo online.

How do I import my flickr photos?

  • Once you're logged in, click on the 'Add New Image' button on the user toolbar
  • On the right hand side of the page is a link you can click to add photos from your (or anyone elses) public flickr account. CLick it and you'll be taken to a page where you can enter a flickr username
  • Enter the username of the flickr users account you want to add photos from and click 'save'
  • The next screen allows you to browse the photos associated with that user
  • Clicking on a flickr thumbnail will take you to a page where you can edit the details of that image for use on Chalkboard. Don't forget to give it a name, a description and tag it with some relevant words. You can choose to add the new entry to one of your Groups too.
  • Once you've clicked 'Update' you'll be taken to the new page that's been created for everyone to view that flickr image on Chalkboard.

How do I upload my travel videos?

  • You need a YouTube account to add your own videos to Chalkboard.
    • If you don't already have an account, you can sign up for one here
    • If you happen to have a Google Account, you can use that to sign in to YouTube as well.
  • Once you've uploaded a video to YouTube, you can easily add it to your profile on Chalkboard.
    • YouTube provice their own help and support for uploading videos to their site here.
  • Once you're logged in, click on the 'Add New Video' button on the user toolbar
  • In the 'Add a new video from YouTube' field, write the URL of YouTube video page.
  • Once you've clicked 'Check URL' you'll be taken to a page where you can edit the details of the video for Chalkboard. Don't forget to give it a name, a description and tag it with some relevant words. You can choose to add the new entry to one of your Groups too.
  • Once you've clicked 'Add This Video' you'll be taken to the new page that's been created for everyone to view your video on Chalkboard.

How do I add content to a group?

  • Whenever you add content to Chalkboard whether this is a blog post, a video or an image you are given the option to add the content to a group. All you need to do is select the groups you want the content to appear in from the drop down list.
  • You will need to have joined the group you want to share the content with before adding content.
  • If you have already put content into Chalkboard and would like to add this content to a group, you will need to view the content you want to add and use the drop down on the right hand side of the page to assign it to the appropriate groups.
