Eastern Europe can be tricky but it's worth it.  You have a uni degree so you have an advantage.  I don't.  Poland and other EU countries prefer EU passports or uni degrees. Ukraine is half and half.  They aren't EU but they like to act like they are by saying it's required but it isn't.  There are tons of openings in Ukraine though.  Even some in the city I'm going to be working in I think.  Most of the jobs are in Kiev or Lviv.  I'll be in Donets'k.  Also, if you have a preference in languages - Russian or Ukrainian - figure out which side of the country you want to teach in.  Western Ukraine speaks Ukrainian predominently.  Eastern speaks Russian.  I'm getting free Russian lessons for the duration of my contract.  I'm in Eastern Ukraine. :))

I'm about to head out for a bit but I'll give you some tips and some websites.  Join the group about Ukraine if you want. I listed tons of goodies in a post in the group. :))

Hey Hannah,

Welcome to Chalkboard! That's cool you're thinking about teaching abroad - it's certainly an adventure! In terms of advice, I'd chat to as many different TEFLers as possible to get their advice about which course to do, where's good to teach etc. Here are a few to get you started:

Eastern Europe: http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-chalkboard/spiwak432 (Ukraine) and http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-chalkboard/mochafanatic (Czech Republic)

Asia: http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-chalkboard/rozel09 (China); http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-chalkboard/emily86 (South Korea); http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-chalkboard/shanshan (Indonesia); http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-chalkboard/metalmatt (Thailand); http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-chalkboard/pdixon (Japan).

Hope that helps - best of luck with all your plans and if you have any questions give me a shout!
