There are lots of newly qualified teachers on chalkboard who are about to embark not only on the adventure of a lifetime, but also on an exciting new career. I know as a new teacher I had lots of anxieties such as:
- Oh my god, what am I doing??!
- Is this the right choice for me?
- Will I be a good teacher?
- I can't remember anything I did on my course!!
- How am I going to be able to stand in front of a class and even pretend to be confident??
…to name but a few!!! But you’ll be pleased to know that I survived and you will too!
Anyhow, I decided it would be a good idea to create some activities that I thought might be useful for you guys when you start teaching. These are all activities I have done in class, which I find to be effective and which students enjoy. So take a look…hopefully you will have some elementary classes in which you can use them – and if not, you can see some examples of different types of activities you can do. For a lot of jobs out there you will be expected to create similar materials of your own.
Of course there are many, many activities you can do – this is just a taster! So I hope you find them useful. There are also some detailed notes for new teachers on how to use the activities, which will hopefully help you to produce fabulous lessons….
Feel free to ask any questions about how to use them in your classes. And as always if you have any questions in general, I’m always at hand to help as best I can J
Oh and the best news is that it’s FREE….so click here to check it out!
Thanks,
Emma x

Hi Emma
Thanks for putting your lesson plans on the net in such an easy downlodable pdf. I'm off to China at the end of August, and am currently putting together a collection of lesson plans and activities etc. There is a lot of information out there, but it is certainly great when parts of it come in compact units (rather than dispersed through millions of internet links and advertisements and pop-up windows). I'm not reading it right away, since there is so much information I'm sorting through, but it looks good and I appreciate having it and your willingness to share.
ps. maybe you might comment on my discussion re: Verb forms and Verb Tenses.... just an issue I'm trying to sort out for myself.
Thanks again -- Jeffrey
Very useful...thanks Emma
Ahhh! Well spotted! Pesky microsoft word!!! Ah well...good for testing the students with a spot of 'find the spelling mistake' :-)
Great pack, unfortunately I think there is a spelling mistake on page 20, cards A, C and E - traffic is spelt 'traffice'.
Otherwise extremely useful - thanks!
