Chalkboard is i-to-i's TEFL community.
It is currently still in testing phase which could mean you find the odd bug!

I took my CELTA course straight after doing my degree. Like many people, my initial reason for doing my TEFL qualification was to enable me to travel the world. I didn’t want to just go on holiday, I wanted to live in a country and immerse myself in the culture.
I have over 4 years teaching experience and I have taught in Japan, Italy, Egypt and Portugal. At first teaching was daunting, however I grew to love it! Despite having a BA in English, I discovered I didn’t really know a lot about English as a language – but that soon changes! TEFL is very diverse, challenging, rewarding and you get to be creative with your lessons. You never stop learning how to better yourself and your methods!
I'm now working at i-to-i as an Online Tutor - so if you're stuck on your TEFL course or have any TEFL questions, feel free to post a message in these groups and I'll get right back to you!

With question 9, I thought a discussion would be 'production' as its more open-ended? I thought 'practice' would be when he asks them to do a few questions from the worksheet? Or is that wrong?
Okay iv just seen where the 'send private message' link is. Now I feel a little foolish lol
Ah okay, so I don't even have to say what tense it is then?
I would send you a private message but I don't know how to lol
My name is Peter Moorhouse.
If you could have a look for me that'd be great. I'm pretty sure some of the answers are wrong because I wrote them using present simple examples from the lesson (apparently this tense was only used to contrast with the target structure)
It's Question 6 on checkpoint 3 - What grammatical structure is being taught?
Does this mean what tense is being taught? If so I think its present perfect but I'm not sure, I always get muddled between Past Perfect and Present Perfect.
The sentences are: "He used ot live in a castle, now he lives in a prison"
Or does it mean the structure "used to" - looking at the comments I've received I think it might mean this.
I'm not certain my answers for 7, 8 and 9 are right either, the tutor didn't leave any comments on them but didn't mark them as correct either.
Thanks
Hi Emma
I was told you're the person to talk to about the online TEFL course if you're having some problems?
I'm stuck on Checkpoint three at the moment, on the questions about the assessment video. (Which I failed the first time because the video didn't play the whole way through the first few times I watched it)
I'm pretty sure I know the answers but I wanted to check before re-submitting for the final time just in case I'm wrong!
Thanks
Hi Emma. I recently read somewhere that you spent (the last) 2 years teaching in a Moslem country? Which country was that and what were your experiences as a woman? Thanks, Mark.
Thank you so much for the response on my post. Been holding back hoping I got an answer one way or another. :)
thank you very much for your woords emma.
perhaps i'm thinking too hard about this question, after all ive got through the rest of the course.
but with so little time left i think im overthinking it. perhaps a cup of tea and an hour away from the computer and come back with a clear head!
thanks again
Emma, I'd really appreciate any feedback that you can give me/us:

Well then you have the perfect excuse to come back - hehe! Managed to find some time to write down some feedback this afternoon and have just posted it on the thread, so take a look!
