I took my CELTA course straight after doing my degree. Like many people, my initial reason for doing my TEFL qualification was to enable me to travel the world. I didn’t want to just go on holiday, I wanted to live in a country and immerse myself in the culture.
I have over 4 years teaching experience and I have taught in Japan, Italy, Egypt and Portugal. At first teaching was daunting, however I grew to love it! Despite having a BA in English, I discovered I didn’t really know a lot about English as a language – but that soon changes! TEFL is very diverse, challenging, rewarding and you get to be creative with your lessons. You never stop learning how to better yourself and your methods!
I'm now working at i-to-i as an Online Tutor - so if you're stuck on your TEFL course or have any TEFL questions, feel free to post a message in these groups and I'll get right back to you!

That would be a god help thank you!
Katie
Hi Reggie!
Thanks for your post. Emma no longer works at i-to-i TEFL here, so we'd advise you email the TEFL helpdesk with any queries and they'll be able to point you in the right direction and get you in touch with a tutor too. You can email them on helpdesk@tefl-training.com. Have you submitted an attempt as yet? You might be pleasantly surprised by how well you do!
Good luck with it,
Katie

Hi Emma, I'm considering taking a TEFL/TESOL/CELTA course and I'm looking to speak with someone who has some experience doing it! I'm currently living in Toronto, Canada, where I was born, and I'm open to going pretty much anywhere, as long as it's safe! I'm a bit hesitant because I don't have a degree and I know this limits my teaching options... I do however have experience working full-time with children in a daycare environment. Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Caitlin
Hi Emma,

Hi Emma,
I am currently doing my TEFL course but am stuck on Checkpoint 3 Question 7 and it is my last attempt to get it right! The current answer I have is:
Firstly by eliciting the ideas of the ideal image of a popstar conjured by the students using infinitive verb and adjective - ie live in a Castle, has a lot of money and has a lot of girlfriends. The teacher then shows how the popstar is no longer like this using the board and pictures to show that now he lives in prison, he has no girlfriends, he takes a lot of drugs. The teacher then presents the grammatical structure by stating that he 'used to + infinitive verb (eg used to live) + adjective' then adjoins this to what he is like now through an implied conjunction 'but' 'now he lives in prison' etc. He then asks the students to make their own statements up using the structure.
I'm not sure whether this actually answers the question - and if not what the question is actually looking for?
Your help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Lucie
Hi Emma, I am having some trouble with Q10, checkpoint 5, how much information are they actually looking for? This is what a was going to put for anticipated problems, Am I on the right track? Some assistance would be appreciated.
1)The students could have forgotton a lot of what they learned the previous week, some students may be shy and will participate less than others. The game may not be suitable for all students, and you may have to adjust accordingly....

Hi Emma,
I've completed my 120hr online TEFL course and wondered if you had any advice for applying for jobs in Italy. My CV is ready to go...
Thanks
