I'm 23, graduated from Bath Spa Uni last year, currently living in Cheonan, south Korea, where I'm teaching for a year - maybe longer. With a bit of luck I plan on slowly travelling around the world so I can soak up as many different cultures/ languages as possible and maybe do a bit of travel writing. I'll probably be in my 70's by the time I've finished.
I have no teaching experience so this is a real jump in the deep end but I've wanted to teach from an early age. That, and I want to travel...seems like the perfect combination.
My friends call me Fish...after Dori from Finding Nemo because I apparently forget things...that would look good on a CV, wouldn't it? I'm not that bad, honest. So what else can I tell you about me? I'm the kind of person who has to try something at least once (excluding the illegal stuff), who isn't bothered if she makes herself look like an idiot - done quite often - and who likes to be cheerful, have fun and just create memories. So here's to 2010...a year for a new life.

Log in to leave a comment or Create an accountHi, not sure if you check this but I am on the EPIK program for Feb 2011, thanks for the bits of advice you passed my way. The document gathering was without major incident, but makes you feel it is not gonna work out. It did. Im waiting on contract for Incheon or Daegu- hopefully.
I just wanted to vent my excitement! You still enjoying it? Any last minute tips?
Thanks for the help :)
Hello! I was wondering if you could help me. I'm so confused about the visa process. When you sent your basic disclosure to be stamped and to the korean embassy, did you get it notarized or signed by a solicitor? As different websites say different things so I'm really confused now haha
Thanks
Hi Emily how are things goin for you over there hope all is good. Im just doing the course now i have the weekend course in september looking forward to that. I really cant wait to go over there
Where did you get your writing degree at?
Thanks! That helps alot. I think I'll stick with i to i. You enjoying Korea so far?? :)
Thanks for the reply. Im building a coherent picture in my mind made up of all the information im collecting. Actually its not that coherent.
I enjoy writing about nothing. Just people, passions, emotions, and describing things. I read Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Dostoyevsky and other such romantic, dreaming authors. Its fun, not sure if ill ever get published from it, but its fun to be a struggling writer. very cliched!
whats a writing degree and what do you like reading? i find it hard to write when im doing stuff and only get words down when im totally unemployed, and free, and therefore thinking too much. I like meeting writer people, i dont know many. The greats all had writer buddies, Hemingway and Fitzgerald, Camus and Sartre. I have their words, that i steal from, but thats it. what inspires you?
i enjoyed writing that.
Hi, I started reading your blogs and found them really useful. I hope to go to Korea early 2011 and was wondering which agency would you recommend??
Thanks
Laura :)
Hi, I was wondering how long the whole application process took you to get the position? I have decided that disapearing away IS the plan and I am massively excited and when to get somewhere quick. Japan is my number one but South Korea is the back up, as well as the China internship.
Plus, any pearls of wisdom about applying would be welcome.
Parag
Hi Emily
How are you? I am ready to start my course now in the next week or so. I plan on heading to South Korea to teach the end of the year. I have been reading yours blogs and find them very interesting. Are you enjoying it over there?
