As many of you out there can relate, I'm on the count down waiting game ready to throw myself over to China in August for my BIGGEST most exciting adventure so far! Along with this brings new thoughts.....
I know a lot of you out there are conjuring up your own mini, or rather ever growing large lists on resources for survival (of course). I am guilty of the same. If any of you would be so graciously kind in giving your own thoughts/opinions to what you will be taking i.e. for teaching and living wise. Please don't hold back the force from typing in a few! :P
My list so far:
Living: Sleeping bag Liner Travel Pillow IPOD music Mosquito net (bed) Tea bags/Coffee (no 'real' tea in china/coffee expensive) Teaching: Photos and cards Magazines – cut outs of pictures of clothes, animals, or anything or interest Playing cards – especially with pictures on (family fortunes) Blue tac, stickers

I'm planning to purchase extra toiletries for the trip. I’m told finding contact solution in China is difficult and that the quality isn’t up to U.S. standards. In addition, I’m bringing plenty of razors, medicines, etc. In regards to medicine, many current interns were complaining of sore throats so I’ll be bringing some throat spray.
I’m also bringing my laptop with a few resources and I’ve checked that my charger will work there.
Also, I’ve been searching for a book full of lesson plans to no avail. Has anyone else found something like that?
Hey that is wicked, actually I am bringing my laptop, and I am converting some of the PDFs we got from i-to-i and my courses into book form - if cheap enough so that I have them there in hard copy to use. I am not bringing a sleeping bag cause when I was last there I didn't need it - also netting - I didn't need it last time. Oh alarm clocks - easy to get one there - but just to note that because we will most likely be on the East side the sun comes up really early - I didn't know if you knew but China is one time zone and they compensate for it by making the time correspond for the middle of the country so if you are on the easter side (like in Shanghai especially) the sun will be glowing lovely at 6am (a little joke I think). :) I have a starbucks travel mug that I can insert pictures to with themes so I may get a bunch of inserts ready to go before I head over - for class and introductions. - And don't forget your camera - seriously! My one friend remembered on the plane that her camera was on her dresser. She bought a digital there but she was hysterical and she didn't have pics for the first few days. :) Wow I wrote a lot. :)
