Senior political science major graduating in May. My grand plan is to travel the world for the next few years, before doing a post-grad. I'm American born and raised, so from 18-20 I decided to go to China; I was working, studying, and teaching English in Dalian and Shanghai. To be honest I'm a little sick of teaching English in China, (but it's a magical place to be right now, such a bubble! I'd recommend anyone to go) so I'm moving to Singapore this summer to work in broadcasting. Not planning on teaching English for a while, but I figure a TEFL's handy to have on the road, just in case.
I keep a photoblog of China (http://ednainchina.blogspot.com) for anyone interested in the country, and I'm also a contributing writer at Shanghaiist. So if you have a question, feel free to drop a line.

Hi,
Are you looking to work in China?
Do you want to work with Kindergarten children?
Do you want a good Salary?
Do you want weekends off and two ½ days?
If you do, please contact me today. Our kindergarten needs teachers for the new semester starting September. We also have vacancies in our training centers. We are based in GuangZhou, Dongguan, and Foshan all in Guangdong Province, China.
Our school is called CIEO (Canadian International Education Organization)
If you want more details then please get in touch, If you know someone who might be interested then please forward this to them.
If you can’t start September don’t worry, you can still apply as we need teachers throughout the year!
All the best,
Robert
Vietnam was amazing. I was really lucky to get that job. I actually helped a family friend with her son when they lived in Argentina and she recommended me to her friend who was working in Ho Chi Minh City. It was pretty lonely since I spoke no Vietnamese, but I had a lot to keep me busy. I even got two weeks off so I spent some time in Laos too. I think that was when I caught the travel bug :)
Thank you so much for the recommendations. I was kind of overwhelmed by the choices. I'll definitely look into Hong Kong. Where are you thinking about traveling after you graduate? Sounds exciting!
Thanks again,
Jessica
Ok thanks, I will keep a look out for jobs at the places you mentioned....apart from Shane English!!
Thankyou...that has put my mind at ease :) When I spoke to the placement team they didnt make it sound at all flexible...apart from the itoi placement team I am not sure which company to use which is reliable...do you know of any?
Hi Edna,
Thanks for the advice :) Wow your friend has been really lucky, that is great.
Yeah I have alot of questions at the moment....ideally I want a contract before I go then I wont be AS anxious!! However, because I am working in the USA until Sept I will miss out on the contracts which start at the begining of September. I need to call the itoi placement team again to be honest and get things sorted.
Thanks again for your message, Lou :)
Oh hai! haha, fancy seeing you on here! Thanks for the tip re. facebook and such. Thanks for all the feedback in fact!
TEFL can totally be a verb! That's cool you're going to heading to Eastern Europe and/or South America to teach - I hear good reports of both :)
No, my profile pic was taken in Croatia, so a little way away from Beijing! Anyways, you seem pretty clued up, but if there's anything I can help you with when it comes to TEFL give me a shout!
Hey Edna,
Welcome to Chalkboard! A photoblog of China sounds really interesting - you'll have to get a few pics up on here!
A TEFL cert certainly comes in handy when you're travelling - I take it you're hoping to teach in Singapore?
