Having visited the land of smiles last year for the first time, I had the most amazing adventures of my life. We then returned for Christmas which was fantastic. The more time I spent in Thailand the more I realised I need to be there. The daily office grind isn't cutting it like it used to. So I've started learning Thai, brushed off my degree (which I never used in the UK) and decided to go TEFL.
I'm now set on going May 2012 for the internship. But living off 12500 baht? I don't think that's possible. I'd recommend £2k savings as backup. BKK ain't cheap even if you do live off noodle stands. A lot cheaper outside of the big smoke though.
Want any advice or to know anything, I'm quite learned now in the LOS, drop me a PM.

I've booked on to the full internship in May, when (if) you book , phone them and ask for a discount. It's a business after all they should be able to further discount the price.
I'm slowly working through, not done much yet, but I mainly have to do it at the weekend, I'm aiming for 6 hours per weekend with whatever I can do in the week. If you've got a degree I woudn't expect it to be too hard for you to complete. Just take it slow.
As for visa's, as a UK citizen you get a 30 day visa expemption. E.g. you can go to thailand as a tourist for 30 days. But this is not sufficient if you are going to work. Basically you apply for a 3 month (think its B-visa) then when the school confirms you place at some point they extend it for the length of the contract e.g. 5.5 months. Don't worry about that yet though, the I to I people will send you the info at each stage as you need it. You can work in Thailand without a visa, e.g. on the 30 days exemption but its VERY Risky and you risk being deported so I wouldn't advise it and if you're doing it here there is no need at all.
The weekend course is just before you start teaching , is in Bangkok (or groong thaehp as it is known in Thailand).
I'm taking it steady at the moment. But I'll be on here working away so message me anytime mate.
Hi DrRav,
i am looking to book onto the 5 month Thailand internship! I just wondered how far are you into the course, what course you booked onto etc?
How does the weekend course work and how long is it until you need to get your visa and where do you get it from?
sorry for all the questions but you seem like a knowledgable guy lol
sam
Hi Dr Rav
