Im just about to do my course with my partner and we're looking to teach in Asia but he's concerned about the whole degree/no degree thing (as he dosent have one)
cheers
Hi Guys. Just sending you a quick invite to the North District Social Club. A social club in northern Hong Kong for English speakers.

Hey Darren,
Which TEFL course did you do. I think with i-to-i if you do 100hrs or more they can assist in job placement. If you decide to come to japan then its through the company Interac. i-to-i cant guarantee a job but they can reserve a place, all you have to do is pass the interview stage. You have a phone interview and then an all day interview. Mostly it to see your protential and gage your attitude towards teaching and what commitment you have to the job, afterall they dont want someone who is going to leave midway through the year, ideally they want someone to be there as long a possible. Adverage is 2-3 years but some only stay a year. I told them that i hope to stay 3 years or longer when in fact i really dont know.
You can apply to Interac direct or look at other companies. If you know japanese and just want to teach then any company should be fine...but if you want the help and support then Interac is the way forward. The JET program is way more harder to get on and you are required to do more work for roughly the same pay.
Japan is also a very safe place, even on the trains you dont see any grafitti or vadalism. I have a few time gone to bed with my door unlocked, also left my bike with out a lock on and even left my shopping with my bike when ive gone into a shop and its still been there when ive come out.
The landscape is beutiful. I`m in Iwate on the east coast and some of the views are breath taking. Even walking home from school one day i was surrounded by mountain landscape walking through the clouds, a bit eerie but awesome at the same time.
Only downside in japan is they teach american english which can be difficult sometimes but some schools also like to know the UK versions as well.
If i can help any other way please ask
Hi Guys!
Just got my TEFL qualification. Next step is to find myself a teaching job in either Japan or Hong Kong (both seem very fun and interesting places).
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated
Cheers :)
