About Me

I am an eighteen year old gap year student, about to finish my online TEFL course in the next few days. In January (2010) I'm going to Peru to teach English for twelve weeks and then travelling around Chile, Argentina and maybe Bolivia for another three months. I have a deferred place at a Southampton University in Septemeber 2010, reading English and Proffessional Writing. 
I wanted to do a TEFL course mainly to help me with my gap year placement; and my mum and dad were teachers in Pakistan when I was a child, which is where I was born. I think my mum (dare I say this?) has definatly inspired me to go in for teaching in developing countries, and really make a difference to the lives of children around the globe. 
Places that I would love to get an oppotunity to explore and intergrate into as well as Latin America, include India (although I spent alot of time there as a child I long to go back), Africa and South East Asia.
My interests include reading alot of literature (including novels, poetry and non fiction matter such as biographies and literary critisim), walking my two family dogs, writing poetry and random observations, lounging by the wood fire reading the newspaper and doing the crossword, going to the beach (I have a thing for beaches in winter, when they are deserted, and as I live in Cornwall, they aren't hard to come by!), listening to alot of oldy folky and blues music; Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Johnny Cash being some favourites, sewing my own funky clothes and shopping in flea markets. I also play the acoustic guitar and piano a little.
