I'm Danny,
I took part in the i-to-i China internship in Febuary 2010. I am currently still teaching in China as an English and PE teacher at a foreign language university in Shaoxing ( near Hangzhou ) . I have been working as a teacher abroad for 1 and a half years now and have been able to save money and in my holidays travel all around China, to Nepal and Everest Base Camp and through Laos and Thailand.
I had also been away backpacking for a year before. Stumbling my way through Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and America. In this time i battled with crocodiles, scuba dived with sharks, ate cobras for breakfast and found work as a cowboy. Visiting many fine and not so fine drinking establishments, Hospital A&E's and staying in many strange hostels/ huts / gutters along the way.
The masterplan is that now i have passed my 120hr TEFL and gained nearly 2years teaching experience, I can continue working and travelling round the world whilst staying reasonably debt free.
I would love to teach in Thailand and China. I...

Hey Danny,
Great blog posts, very funny also!
Where exactly is it that you are from originally?
How did you enjoy your time in Australia? I'm from Melbourne originally but have been living in Hobart the past year or so.
Sure hope you liked Melbourne better than Sydney (haha)
Look forward to reading more of your posts

Hey Danny. Thats cool and not far away at all. As I'm from NZ I'm missing home a little with the world cup being there and all. So its possible to see a game in Ningbo? If so where abouts? Would love to see one or two games! Is it in Lao Wai Tan?? Info would be awsome! Yeap I'm settling in great, it seems a cool city.
Have a good week, Annah.
Hello Danny,
Thanks mate.
Im glad that you replied. You didn't not waffle - by no means. Its so scary when your considering something that seems out there, especially working abroad. It's a big step. Although I think I just need the reassurance as I feel confident in front of a classroom. I was just unsure about the company. I'd hate to be stuck in the wilderness out there.
Thanks for the information on the amounts you spend out there. I didn't think about that. I was thinking of doing a course here and then looking for a a work placement abroad of a reputable school.
How much do you think you should take British pounds for a year?
Sylvia. :)
Thanks danny! Thats a good suggestion, I just added an app on my iphone for translating haha.
Yes. the RWC here has made N.Z so exciting all of a sudden. You boosted my confidence in going now! thanks! really excited and looking forward to it now! :)
Btw maybe you can msg me here if you do decide to go to auckland.. I'm just wondering where I'll be then, but you never know i might go back to N.Z..low chance but maybe LOL
Hi Danny,
Thanks for answering my questions about the China internship, it helped to hear from a past intern and their experience of the whole thing. I've also read your blogs, which made me laugh alot and you must like China if you've stayed for this long!

How have you found it and have you been on any paid internships?
Sylvia.
I've been reading your china blogs and they are absolutely hilarious! I'm going on the internship in january and I'm bricking it about being placed on my own, I'm hoping they have sorted this problem out by the time I go. Where abouts are you teaching now?
