Touch and go there for a few days! After turning myself into an absolute recluse and shouting at anyone who opened the door to talk to me, I've finished my 120 hour TEFL course. The course itself was stressful at times, admittedly though I just left it too long. I didn't realise that the 20 hour video course has an assignment, with a lesson plan for each one! ekk. So I spent ages on that because I didn't want to fail and have to do it again as my days were ticking away.
I literally worked right up till the last minute of my course and I've never done grammar so fast in my life, but the pressure actually forced me to retain the information and not procrastinate. I'm quite proud of how much I've learnt and the fact that I didn't fail any of the checkpoints, which was a bonus because I wouldn't have been able to redo most of them due to time limits.
Now on to the fun part :). Application time, I'm starting the 'proper' job hunt this time. After years of watching YouTube videos of ALT's in the countries I wanted to teach in, hours trawling the internet looking at jobs and courses it's finally time for the big push!
I'm not going to limit my options because I want the best chance of getting a job. So far I'm considering;
- J.E.T or Japan exchange and teaching programme. When I say considering, I've been considering JET for about five years now lol. Most of which were spent in Uni, watching Jets videos and reading their blogs. I follow the application process every year and surprisingly the application aren't up yet for Jet. They usually go up end of September, start of October. I think it probably has to do with the horrible earthquakes they had at the start of the year and with the falling need for ALT's there. Hopefully they will be up soon.
- EPIK (South Korea) Might have missed the boat on this one for the Feb intake, but may wait till next batch or try my luck.
- South Korea in general
- China
So excitement ahoy! :) Cannot wait to pack my bags!

How long did it take you to get through the program? I am interested in taking the course but I'm having difficulty chosing the "right" one.

I voted South Korea! I love it out here, but then I've never been to Japan :P Anyways, hope you make up your mind :)
Ah yay!!! Well done! I laughed so much when you wrote you shouted at anyone who opened the door to talk to you :)
Now for the fun part indeed! I haven't voted yet, it's a tough decision to make and I don't envy you one iota, but at least you've narrowed it down to Asia...that's a start!
You might want to check out Paul Dixon's profile who is over in Japan right now, he didn't go through Jet I don't think, but he's written some great blogs about TEFLing in Japan :) http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-chalkboard/pdixon
Hope it helps!
