I'm Clare (hello) and I'm teaching on the China Internship in Handan, Heibei province - ask me anything you like, and I'll do my best.
A bit more about me? Well OK then. I'm 23, I live in Derby and went to Uni in Brighton, I hate coloured loo roll and I love reading, running and dark chocolate digestives. My superpower of choice would be the power over hair, because nothing's more likely to stop a monologue than sudden nose-ringlets or afro-brows, or on the other hand: *poof* coiffed. It's genius, and you know it.
I'm 23, living in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. I'm finishing my...

Log in to leave a comment or Create an accountHi Clare, I'm just finding my way around Chalkboard . I started about 3 weeks ago and am fighting my way through Checkpoint 3, with only questions 25 to go. Thought I'd leave the nasty one til end. Any tips?Could you help me on q.31 with Let Me make a photo of you - is this mother tongue and not sure what to put for how to correct. Any advice would be grateful.I hear it's all downhill after. How long has it taken you to get through to end of Checkpoint 3?
Cheers. Juliet
Hey Clare
Hope you are having an awesome time in Beijing!
The other night at 1801, got Steph's number, but then promptly lost my phone. Can you give me her email address please?
Thanks!
Excited doesn't even begin to describe how I feel. :) Congrats on getting through it all!! It'd be cool to meet up if you are in Beijing-maybe by then you'll know all the great places to go.
Hello! Sorry, it's been crazy around here. I booked my flight just fine, and I'll be in country a few days prior to the start of the classroom work. By that time I'll have to review all the material again! Have you decided what you are going to do yet-stay, travel, or go home?
Haha, not quite what you expected? That's alright, I figured it was going to be chaos, and I'm completely up for it. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow of things.
I already figured I was going to be packing light, if at all possible. I thought things might be rather inexpensive over there.
Thanks for the info on the vpn-I'm doing online college courses right now, so I'll definitely need access to the internet on a regular basis. I was a bit curious about that one.
So, was everything last minute for you? I'm waiting on the Invitation Letter for my visa application, but I really want to book my flight. Grr!
Expect a few more questions :)
Hi Clare,
I'm heading out to China in February for the internship with TTC. It'd be great to talk to someone that is there and experiencing it so I know (somewhat) what to expect!
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Lorelei
Hey Clare,
How was Shanghai? Bet it was awesome!! Can't wait to hear all about it! =]
Hi, thanks for that, but I looked into the site and it's actually more expensive going through them direct, than it is to go with i to i haha!
Ok thanks. One more question. Do you have to buy your own flights on top of the internship costs?
I think I understand what you're saying : )
Another question, how many hours a day and days a week do you work (including out of hours work, marking, watching other teachers etc)?
Also, being with 2 other girls, do you get enough exposure to the language to pick it up? I can imagine with a couple other english speaking girls there, you don't and won't actually need to talk all too much chinese?
