Hi Claire, I have seen your really interested in the Disney programme, so am I but I am worried as I dont have the 24 months teaching experience, do you know whether this is essential? xx
How are you getting on? Xx
Hi Claire,
Checkpoint 3 is a tough one, I struggled with it for a while before eventually passing. Good luck with it.
I've applied to do the Thailand internship so hopefully I'll be jetting off at the end of April. I really can't wait and I'm counting down the days till my flight. Where are you hoping to teach once you're done?
Where abouts are you from in Dorset? It's a nice part of the world but I guess that still isn't stopping some of us wanting to go a little further afield.

I haven't finished checkpoint 3 yet, I'm on the first attempt at the moment. I think I'll just take my time with it though. I just hope I can pass within the 3 attempts! How are you getting on?
Here are two websites that TEFL i-i forwarded to me. Both FULL of jobs all over the world!

Well, you will have to keep me up to date! Hope you're getting on with checkpoint 3 anyway! If you see any posts or links for teaching within Europe, let me know! I will do the same! x

Hey,
So far I've just done a little 1-to-1 teaching in my home country, a couple of summer schools in Hong Kong and then my jobs in Korea. I think if it is the right time of year for you that you'll be finished, doing a summer school is a nice way to get your feet wet. There are also plenty of first time teachers out here, there are definitely worse places to start than Korea. We have 4 new teachers starting at our school this month (March is peak hiring time, but there are jobs all year around, I got mine in November), 3 of which have no teaching experience I think (although one has a little with camps) and one who has been a kindergarten teacher in the US for a while.
The internships look interesting, but I think I'd have problems with them. I just wouldn't want to pay someone to do something (ie, placing me in a school) that is normally paid for by the school. I get that there is a little training and there is support, but honestly, I've never needed any of that. I got my TEFL and I was good to go. You can earn more money that way and you don't have to shell out at the beginning for them to place you. You also get way more choice over where you are going. That's just my tuppence worth though, there are a lot of people who do enjoy them.
Hi! Thanks for the add :) Anything I can help you with?
Hi Claire, thanks for the add! :) I saw you are interested in teaching in Japan? Me too! In fact I just had an interview to go there in July. Fingers crossed that I get it! I haven't travelled too much either without my family & friends so going somewhere completely on my own is daunting. I think that it is possible though if you go with an organisation that is well organised and has a good support network- other teachers etc.
I've been looking into the JET programme with is run by the Japanese Government and has a brilliant support system. You also don't need any Japanese language experience as they provide free lessons! Fingers crossed I get it. However if I don't I'll deffo be looking around for another way to get to Japan! :) Hope your course is going well! Good luck! :)
