Finishing up in Beijing -_-

These past few weeks have been phenomenal - I hope it has been for you as well!

These past couple of days have been crazy though I must say. Lots of stuff to do and get done. The other night we were given our placements. That was CRAZY. We were all hanging around the hall and were told not that night and so we all left (I think that was the plan) and then an hour later I got a phone call "THE LIST IS UP - I SEE YOUR NAME!" My heart just dropped! I just nearly ran to the first floor (not even waiting for the elevator) and went to the board. Hangzhou company in YuYao - amazing placement. Definitely a lucky one!

One thing I want to remind people is that the company does not place you - they take your info and preferences and send it off to the schools and it is the schools that pick you. TTC does the best they can but unfortunately they don't make the last decision.

I am excited for Hangzhou because I have been there before. Now there is a bit of complication for me because the board and information stuff says YuYao but the placement lady (who I got to meet) told me that I am actually in the Hangzhou city. Either way they are both awesome places.

I think I may ship my winter coat home - maybe.

I mean as a Canadian, when the weather doesn't dip below Zero degrees - that isn't cold. That is a spring jacket with scarves. I am definitely buying a sun umbrella though - the sun is wicked here in Beijing so I know that it will get hotter down there.

Tomorrow a bunch are going on the trip around the area and so I am taking this opportunity to see the things I haven't seen yet, so I am heading to a couple of parks and just hanging out. Because once I reach my placement I am a teacher (Laoshi) 24/7. :)

Let me know how you are doing/feeling so far. Did you end up where you expected or wanted? If anything I am the best at finding the silver lining if you ever need one.

Glad you're excited about your placement! Let us know how you get on!!

Hangzhou is a beautiful city, Xi Hu is such an amazing area to hang out. They have a weird outdoor meeting place by the lake called English corner for any Chinese people that want to practice English with the English speaking foreigners that turn up. Have fun. Get an electric bike, they are awesome to ride around Hangzhou.
