Hey,
I am a recent University student (shout out to Mount Allison!!) at the beginning of my TEFL career. Since high-school I have been in programs steering me towards teaching. I was apart of tutor programs (both individual and class based), as well as co-op opportunities at an Elementary school. During my University career I had a chance to be a conversation partner to students from Japan which was an amazing experience. I was also tutoring students on my own at this point. In 2007 I was in Shanghai for a summer exchange through my University. I learned Mandarin and Chinese Economics while I was at Tongji University. Other than Mandarin I have taken courses on French, Spanish, I have a minor in Japanese, and I have recently been learning Korean on my own. I love to travel and become a part of someone's international experience. If I could help broaden someone's experience through language, culture exchange, etc. I would be happy.
This coming August (2010), I will be heading to China for the teaching internship. I am super excited and I have been readying materials from my i-to-i courses as well as drawing experiences from my friends who have their Teaching Licences here in Ontario. I am completely fresh in this subject so I hope that I can provide with some insight as well as I hope I may count on you for help as well.
Thank you for reading,
Caley

Hey Caley,
That's rubbish! It might be worth waiting until you get to Hangzhou and trying there - often if you're using computers in internet cafes they have extra blocks on them - you might have more luck at your school. Let me know how you get on, and if it's still not working let me know and we'll look at alternatives.
Glad you're happy with your placement - enjoy the journey down south!
Hey Caley, you seem like the go to person for meeting up at this early stage! I'm now settled into Beijing at the Happy Dragon Hostel. Any plans for tomorrow? I'll PM you my number...
Hi Caley! The Happy Dragon screwed up my booking so now they transferred me to Sunlitun youth hostel. I have no idea where I am now...I have been preparing for a stay in Happy Dragon, not here. I have yet to get a sim card...it's been raining hard outside. Don't know anybody here except you!
Hi Caley yeah sounds good, I think I should be arriving at about 3 at the hostel, hoping its fairly easy to get a taxi from the airport. Ive booked the courtyard dorm at the hostel, and beers on the saturday sounds like your talking my language! haha see you soon!
Hey all, I am at the Far East Youth Hostel. Just give me a call if you need to look for me. My number is somewhere in my latest blogs :) Have a great day everyone and see you all soon!
Hi Caley, I'm booked in for the Far East Youth Hostel now. Should be arriving early afternoon on the saturday if you want to meet up at any point?
Hey Caley,
Hows Beijing?? I'll be getting in some point in the afternoon on Friday (depending how the Mongolian/Chinese border goes). Saw that Far East is under construction... still recommend it or go somewhere else close?
Still up for meeting up for a drink as well? I have a feeling China is going to be a shock after the last week in the middle of Mongolia :P
You're getting like me... except mine sound like this: Only 4 nights left beside the love of my life then 4 months apart.... It's getting harder to go to sleep knowing that when I wake it's one less day left. Hopefully I'll get more excited like you! Good luck and have fun!!!
1 SLEEP TILL FLY TIME!!! (well not really a sleep - more like an all-nighter!)
