It is currently still in testing phase which could mean you find the odd bug!

Hi and welcome to my profile esteemed reader!
A little bit about myself:
Just got out of the corporate world and looking for something new to do. I was thinking about traveling abroad to experience more of the world, but then I figured it would be more enjoyable to do so while earning a bit of extra cash. What better way to earn that extra cash than to teach English?
Haven't yet taken any certified courses. Just researching at the moment and trying to figure out the best way to go about it.
Ideally, i'd like to teach in Eastern/Western Europe. So any advice on how to achieve said goal is very welcome :)
My current goals:
-Obtain certification, not sure which yet. I'm currently weighing my options. But since I signed up for a TEFL website, I guess i'm gearing towards that! lol.
-Meet new people from all over the world.
-Make a positive contribution to somebody's life other than my own.
-Learn a new language (Spanish.. German.. Italian.. Icelandic.. just to name a few)
-Go bungee jumping! (this goal was completed as of August 27, 2010! Wooooot!)
I also have my own blog where I ramble on about life. I can be found at MyGreatLittlePlace.com
Oh, and my favourite grammatical tense is the present since we all should be living in it! :0

Log in to leave a comment or Create an accountHi Mark! Yes, I have come to realize that securing a teaching position in Western Europe with minimal qualifications is next to impossible without an EU passport. I do, however, intend to check out some parts of Eastern Europe, mainly the Czech Republic.
Do you want to teach in Bulgaria or are you looking to teach elsewhere?
Hi Chris,I have been in Bulgaria for coming up to four years that has flown.Just wanted to say western europe on the whole require more qualifications,eu passport, degree, etc than eastern europe.

I've decided to take the plunge and enroll in the TEFL 140 hour course tomorrow (as soon as their office opens! lol)
I'm very excited about starting my course studies.
I am currently looking at the Czech Republic, Spain and France as my top choices for employment.
I hope to document my progress from course enrollment all the way to employment and beyond. I'm too excited to sleep! The journey begins! Woot!
Hi! Love your outlook on life. I need to go skydiving, I figure that will help me with my fear of heights... Anyhow, I just finished my 120 hour course and it was fun. You probably want to do training of some sort before you go off on teaching adventures. Unless NOT doing the training is part of the adventure.... Talk to Honor about that haha. Anyhow, best of luck and let us know what you decide to do.
Likewise! good luck with Europe! :] I have at yeast a year to go before I can start teaching abroad!
Ack! too much to see and do! Well, guess I should throw this out there. I'm looking for some advice on how to go about teaching English in Europe. Haven't yet taken the TEFL. There are just too many courses out there, but i'm guessing the one offered here is pretty good! Has anyone done it and thus can enlighten me on current job opportunities? What do people think about CERTA and it's effect on increasing job prospects in Europe?
Nice, my own personal wall!
Anybody here?
