Do I Need a BA Degree to Teach In Thailand Legally?
If you asked me this question in June 2010, I would have said yes.
Ask me 2-3 years ago and I would have said no.
And now things have changed again!
Have a quick read here to see how the new regulations mean good

thanks, that sounds interesting, never been to Thailand...
Hey Al,
Think the site is down. It just says if you have a decent tefl cert.. and something from the Thai government that you can get when you arrive ( can't remember what it is ) you can teach in Thailand.
I cant get the link to work.. what does it say?
I also wear jeans. I dont wear tee's because they are too hot. I wear lightweight tops. Because I am always in the company of Djuli, I am treated with a lot of respect and in the hotel where we stay (his house does not have a/c) we are both treated like celebrities because I am the only international they have stay there. It is a domestic hotel only and caters to the locals.
Indonesians are very polite people, have nothing, yet will go out of their way to help you no matter what...
Well Rin, when I go to Indo, the general rule of thumb is...wear what you are comfortable in but keep it modest. It pays for women to wear tops that have slight sleeves....caps will be fine...and don't wear low cut clothes. You lose the respect of the people. Doesn't mean you have to button up just because they do....when I go there I wear shorts, long ones not short shorts....
I'm in China right now.
I was thinking about Indo.. how is it being a woman in a mainly muslim place? I'm a bit concerned about that.
I'm also interested in Vietnam and Cambodia.
Good for you Rin.....where are you now?
I am thinking about Thailand as well as Indonesia and Vietnam.....would like to teach on a smaller island but I think my chances of finding one is zip actually. ;) Anyway I need to find a placement in Indonesia first...I miss Djuli too much :)
Yes, I had that message to. However, I also had a message from Teach Abroad Thailand that states they have changed the regulations due to a shortage of teachers.. ( maybe due to the recent unrest ) I am hoping to go there when I finish my contract here in June 2011. Fingers crossed they won't have changed the rules again!!
