You did English? Me too! :) In terms of your TEFL course - you should be able to find jobs in Korea without doing a TEFL course, on the basis that you're a fluent English speaker.
However, to get your job through the i-to-i placement service (which I think you're looking at) you would need to do the 100 hour or 120 hour course - this is becuase the partners we work with in Korea will only take ppl who are certified to a pretty high level. If you end up deciding to find work independently, it's also definitely worth doing the course - you'll be much better prepared for what to expect in the classroom and also it'll open doors to better paid contacts with better conditions. Often the jobs left over for those without a TEFL certificate aren't the best positions in the world!
Hope that helps - there's loads more information in this article that might help: http://www.tefl-chalkboard.com/travel-guides/151-Do-I-Need-a-TEFL-TESOL-Certificate-to-Teach-Abroad-
Feel free to get in touch with any other questions as well!
If your university degree is in education....then most likely you would be exempt from taking the TEFL course.
TEFL/TESOL courses are mainly for people who have non-revelant degrees, people with no degrees, and for people that want some TEFL experience.
The TEFL course will definitely help and better prepare you. However, in your situation, you don't necessarily need it.
South Korea
South Korea is one of the few countries that offer such a rich and unique experience, as the country has managed to preserve its culture and traditions for years now.
As a TEFL teacher your adventure will be even more unique, as you’ll work closely with locals who are considered to be some of the most hospitable and friendly in the world!
