Hi Ali,
Sorry for the late reply, must have missed that one. I wasn´t there on Valentines day and kind of glad I wasn´t by the sounds of things. Yeah the responses of standard question did tend to be a bit dull at times, that goes for Spain too, but everyone now and then you get a bright student who gives you a funny remark which makes it all worth while. Good luck.
That rings a few bells Baz!
Question sessions were often a bit repetetive - where did you go at the weekend? 'to see my family'. Where did you go for your last holiday? 'to see my family'. Where are you going for your next holiday? 'to see my family. If you won the lottery what would you do? 'go on holiday with my family'
Who do you admire? 'the pope' Who do you turn to for advice? 'my mother/Jesus' Who's the most important person in your life? 'my mother/ Jesus' Who's your best friend......
Lojanos all think that Loja is the best town in the best country in whole world and there's no reason to anywhere else except to the coast for holiays. However, they think that everyone from the coast is clinically insane and would never dream of living there.
What I love about Ecuadorians is their warmth and generosity. Were you there on valentine's day? I used to presents from my students at any possible opportunity and I still talk with them on facebook... 'teacher I miss you come back to Ecuador I love you'. And that's the girls! They really wear their hearts on their sleeves, eh?
