My name is Astrid Citralokam. But people just know me as Astrid. I am Indonesian and I am in China right now. My parents are about 3rd generation of Chinese, so I have Chinese face, but trust me that's all; I speak no Chinese and don't really like Chinese food. I am 22 years old. I'm graduated from Pelita Harapan University, which an international university in Indonesia. Since I was a kid, I like to learn language and I love to be a teacher one day. And that's what I am. I join this course to expand my ability to teach and master English language. Hope I can share as much as I can.

Let me introduce myself first, i am May from Malaysia and nice to meet you. I am also not a native speaker and just wondering if i can get a job after taking TEFL course. Your story is such an inspiration and encouragement for me. Be a native speaker is always one of the requirements in most of the country. Thus, is it the same in China? And how is your China internship?
All the Best
@ alix: my crazy student is fine now. i know he likes to draw and coloring. So I give him coloring pages or even a blank paper for him to draw every time he finished his book. and viola, he becomes the cutest boy.
Hi Astrid, how are you? I keep wondering how you are getting on with your difficult student. I felt sorry for you having him and the crazy doctor incident all together like that - stressful! Is it still such a trial with that pupil or are you getting anywhere with him?
I hope you've enjoyed your holiday, best of luck ;)
@ rin: hi denise, nice to meet you. well, actually we have some schools here that hire english native speakers. there are EF (english first) or a lot of international schools. myb for the schools you need degree in educations or more experience in teaching. but you can try as i'm not graduated from education also, but i think teaching is my passion.
for finding work, myb you can find it online or send your application to the school. i don't know much about hiring people from outside the country but it has to be the same like you hiring local people. usually they use agent to find one.
good luck with your job finding. love to know your progression, and i'm sorry i just replied now
Hey Astrid :)
How awesome it must be to hail from Indonesia!!
My name's Denise and me and my boyfriend are looking to complete a tefl in the next few months and teach in Indonesia or anywhere in SE Asia really. We are both British citizens but we don't hold degrees in teaching. What do you reckon our chances are in finding work?
Thanks :)
thx...hope i can learn a lot from the course and the sharing
Welcome to TEFL Chalkboard Astrid!
