Hey guys. My name is Kaleigh and I'm from the great state of Colorado. I am going to China in August and can't wait. I absolutely love to travel so I'm excited to be able to explore Asia while getting taste of what it's like to live there. If anyone is interested in traveling over breaks or once we are done let me know.

Log in to leave a comment or Create an accountHey - I think - a tentative time - to meet up at the zoo could be 8am - So that those coming early can have time getting stuff together and don't have to twiddle their thumbs until they meet up. We can all hang out in the area if those coming in the morning are delayed too. Let me know (on my wall or whatever) about what you think and if that is ok - those in the same hostels can come together or separate if you haven't met up yet.
Okay, so I've been seeing this sim card thing all over the place, and I don't even know what it is, but it seems to be popular. I kind of have an idea that its like a card you stick in your phone, but I don't get how it'll enable you to call the states; it's obvious I'm a newbie traveler..hehe! I'm getting my vaccinations tomorrow, I'm so excited to get poked 10 bajillion times!..NOT! haha! I got my visa back the other day for 180 days so at least I won't have to worry about getting it extended when I get to China. What time do you think you'll be coming in on the 18th? Maybe we'll see each other at the airport! I come into Beijing at around 915am.
I know not long now, time is flying! I'm just waiting on my visa and I'll be all set. I arrive in Beijing on the 23rd at 8.50. What about you? I finished my weekend part of the course back in March. I didn't realise you could do it when we get there. Is that what you're doing then?
Yo! Thanks for the add.
Are you all set for 23rd?
Cheers
I get in Thursday the 19th! it's fast approaching! So excited to meet everyone!
Hey! I actually JUST got home from the post office to ship off my visa application. I found a visa agent from the Chinese Embassy's website. So I went to http://www.visamailservice.com/application.php and followed the directions and shipped it along with the letter of invitation, passport, and photos. I hope it all goes through ok! I'm flying out early on the 18th with United, transfer in San Francisco, getting into China on the 19th at 3:15pm. I'm so excited! How's it all going for you?
I'm also curious about the cell phone issue...
I'm planning on using skype to communicate with people back home, but I think it would be very useful to have a cell for making local calls around China. I just don't really know how to go about it....

I arrive on the 18th at around 915AM. I worked with TCC to pick me up from the airport and accomodations at where ever we're staying at for the 20 hour classroom course. They weren't too specific, just that I'd have to pay for early pick up and an extra night, though it wasn't too expensive. I didn't even think about maybe staying at a hostel, traveling abroad for me is sort of new (really exciting, but new). I think it'd be a great idea to meet up, I think TCC is offering some sort of day excurssion after orientation, but I'm not sure how much it'll be. But definitely let me know what your plans are...I suppose if you get in on the 17th or 18th! Do you plan on bringing a cell phone or anything? I'm so lost when it comes to a means of communicating with people back in the states...
Hi! When are you flying out, and where from? I'm buying my plane ticket tomorrow, I'm thinking I'll fly out of Chicago. (I live in Michigan and have friends in Chicago, plus it's a cheap train ticket to get there!)
I'm excited, and scared, and super freaked out (mostly about money) right now. How are you??
