I have 1 year, (possibly 2) years left of uni till i get my English degree and im really hoping to work short term in Saudi Arabia/Gulf countries, has anybody had any experience working in this region ?
I intend to live and work in Tunisia afterwards, but as the salary of the country is low for a teacher i would like to save in gulf first.
Any information/details of Saudi Arabia/Gulf welcome.

I believe there is a group here on teaching English in the Untied Arab Emerites, hopefully that page will be able to give you further guidance and information as to what you may be looking for.
I have heard that teaching in the Gulf is an excellent experience! All the best^-^
Hi arabgirl89,
i thought you my might want to have a look at this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SviggsyPaN8&feature=related
Hi everyone thanks for all the comments and voting :-)
Good luck with the job fred! Im sure it will certainly be a different experience living out there. Keep in touch to let us know how each step goes im really interested in knowing the system for getting a job there.
Kiki your right many jobs are just for men, but I have seen a few for women only as the schools are single sex schools. Also the job with i to i was open to women. Saudi Arabia appeals to me ALOT more than the gulf perhaps as places like Dubai there are few natives and its nice to work in a country with native people.
Thanks honor for the info, hopefully if i gain enough experience here in England then it might help.
Well the dream may become a reality; I have received an email from the recruitment agency telling that the interview was a success and that they will refer and support my application to their client and to possibly excpect them to be directly contacting me and offer me a contract.
Right now my mind is everywhere and nowhere, nervous and excited at the same time...maybe I'll just sit and listen to some music...he he
Will keep you posted with the good news
Fred is right, there are tons of job offers in Saudi. However, those offers rarely extend to females. Most positions I find in Saudi require a Masters and to be of the male gender. But that doesn't mean don't look!
I agree with Kiki - there aren't a huge number of short-term contracts in the Gulf, but staying there a little longer won't necessarily be a bad thing - you'll end up having a great experience!

I added mine too only because firstly there are more jobs in Saudi and the packages they have to offer are amongst the best. I have been looking for work in the Gulf and a lot of them are from Saudi Aarabia.
I just had a video call interview for a position in one of the universities, hopefully the King Saud uni. This afternoon I received an email telling that the interview went well and that the client may contact me direct....I could be in Saudi by the end of September.
It is really in the package that makes the transition worry free for a teacher leaving him to concentarte more on his/her job. I am planing to saty there for 2 years or even 3 if all goes well.
I added my vote, however, there aren't many short term contracts in the Gulf region.. most are one year or longer. However, if do something like 2 years there, though it'll postpone you getting to Tunisia, the experience and money you'll save would be worth it.
