Hi! My name is Anya Bennett and I live in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. I am 30 years old and married with an 11 months old baby son. I was born in Odessa, Ukraine and came to the USA when I was 16 years old as an exchange student. I am really excited to be able to teach English overseas, and learn the cultures that I often wondered about and make my living there!!!

My American friend is still stressing over her visa, I know quite a few people here who are going through the application and finding is very difficult, I don't have her email handy with me at the moment. I will get it off her and forward to you :)

Hello!!
Glad you posted to me! I can somewhat help. I was in Ukraine for 10 days.. would have been better for me if I had a better school but I left and came back to Serbia. For Americans, it is MUCH easier for jobs in non-EU countries. Czech is one of the few that don't mind non-EU employees. So aim for non-EU countries for the best abilities with visas. I'd email all schools. However, I had problems with Serbian schools and they didn't check email. I took a risk and jumped on a plane and tried. But it took me 8 months to find work. And I did go to Ukraine for 10 days in that also with work. If you want, I have facebook and a private email that would be easier to talk about it all in great detail. Whichever ou prefer I'll give you my info for.
Cheers!
Kiki
Hey Anya,
Welcome to Chalkboard. Great to see you're looking at teaching abroad. Have you thought about where you would like to teach?
To get you started on the site you may want to take a look at the groups to get an idea of what teaching in different countries is like:
