Ah, The weekend.

Hey! It's the weekend - how good does it feel? haha.

It's a lovely friday night here in New Zealand and I'm thinking back on the week and how hectic it's been in class, studies and life in general. The school I was doing voluntry teaching has labeled me a student teacher after much debate within the school and working through some red tape (If I can legally be in the classes and other legal junk) they've given me the thumbs up and a title to boot.

I bounce between two different classes; One is an older male who has been doing this TESOL thing for longer than I've been alive, his classes are definitely closer to my style of teaching with more emphasis on conversation as a priority and keeping the students talking and exploring language as much as they can.

The other, an older woman with CELTA and a love for the english language. She's got a far more structured approach to classes with lessons planned out and activities sorted before we enter the class there's much more routine to it.

Wednesday was the day and the first class was with the woman. Students are to compare houses (Both have different pictures of houses) to learn about conversation strategies and how to keep a conversation going through questions and answers. I was given the opportunity to sit behind a pair of students working through it (Classes are small with 5-6 each time) while correcting mistakes and reminding them to add the "SSS" for plurals.  Time flew and by the end of class most of the students had figured out what was on their pages and where they were.

Good times. I think I'm now just over the 40 hour teaching experience mark and hope to get up around 2-300 before setting off into my own classroom. Can't wait!
