I am based in the town of Guápiles mid way between San José and the Caribbean coast. So far so good, the students are amazing, very appreciative and very enthusiastic about learning English to improve their job prospects.
The biggest hurdle I have had to overcome is convincing them that TEFL methods work. They are usually taught only with drilling and repetition and are given everything translated into Spanish!! A TEFL teacher's nightmare....
The beaches on the Caribbean side are fabulous and I can't wait to start exploring the Pacific side of the Country. I have 5 different classes in 5 different locations; my students total about 100, all beginners and aged from 7 to 60, so it is very rewarding to see them progressing each week. There is never a dull moment in the classroom.

Wow! You're in Costa Rica! Hola! I've always wanted to go there, the closest I've been so far was an airport transfer on my way to Honduras :)

How are you finding it so far? Whereabouts are you based? Your pictures of Manzanillo look stunning...
