Hello!
I am currently applying for positions and researching opportunities primarily in S. Korea. I have over seven years of teaching experience including English, Social Studies, and General Music. I have a Master's in Education specializing in Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelor's in Music. I love to teach. It is my gift and my passion. I have tried other jobs, but none as fulfilling as watching a student achieve goals and gain understanding of difficult concepts.
I love to travel and being able to put teaching and travel together sounds like a dream come true for me. I am trying to decide which TEFL course to take and gain some insight from other teachers who are already out there in the field. Any and all correspondence would be greatly appreciated!

I just finished my TEFL 120 hour certificate online and have a BA already. My husband is getting stationed in South Korea in a couple months and I will be looking for a job.....we will not be sure where he will be stationed until he gets there though so I will have to wait until then to look. However, do have a recruiter you would recommend?
Thank you!!!

Hey,
It's not just for me but everyone on Chalkboard! If you want, one thing I've done for guys in the past is subscribed to people's blogs, then posted their blog posts on their behalf under their account on Chalkboard when a new one goes up - means you get lots of nice comments from Chalkboarders about your experiences - looks like you've got some great stuff on your blog and it'd be brilliant to get a few more eyeballs on it!
Honor: Absolutely! I am also on Facebook and always post a link when I update my Blog. Are you on FB? I have my security pretty tight, so you would only be able to find me by my email address. Let me know if you are there, and I will look you up!
Angela
Hey Angela,
Thanks for the add and your kind comment on my post - so are you looking forward to life in Korea then? It'd be great to hear about how you get on - make sure you post something on here whenever you have a new blog post up on your main blog so we can keep up to date with your adventures!
Honor
Oh yeah, my blog is http://lovinlife1902.blogspot.com. Check it out!! :-)
Celeste,
I ended up accepting a position in Ul-jin, S. Korea. The benefits were the best and I feel very drawn to this school. China still scares me a bit and Abu Dhabi is a two year commitment and I am just a one year kind of girl. :-)
I am currently waiting on my visa to be approved, then I will have to go to Chicago for an interview with the Korean Consulate General for the final visa stamp in my passport. At this time, only a state background check is required, but that will change as of 1/1/11. Some recruiting companies are already asking for a Federal background check, but it really just depends on which recruiting company you go with. I have worked with two EXCELLENT recruiters who I would be happy to recommend.
In order to simply apply for a position, all you need is a good resume and a decent (recent) head shot photo. While you are applying, you will want to get official transcripts from your college, your background check, and passport (if you don't already have one). I have started a blog and am documenting the whole process. Feel free to take a look and ask any questions you may have. I am scheduled to leave on September 8, 2010, so I am slowly liquidating my life here in the States. Good luck and let me know if I can be of any assistance.!
Angela which job did you end up applying for? Can you tell me do you have to have all sorts of FBI checks for S. Korea?
