About Me

Hello Hello! My name's Andy and I'm a Marketing Intern here at i-to-i. I absolutely love working here, everyone is great!Im really interested in teaching abroad - I've always known i'd do it at some point and i think it would be really exciting! I'm planning on doing some overseas teaching after University and I would love to spend some time in Costa Rica and elsewhere in South America and maybe India and Europe.
Roll on 2013!

i-to-i’s Top 10 Essential TEFL Resources

(In no particular order) As all TEFL teachers know, your first class is often the most daunting. You feel like you are destined to fail… that the kids will take one look at you and laugh you out of the classroom… that you don’t have enough teaching material to cover the length of the class… and generally feeling like you don’t know your nouns from your pro-nouns! But don’t worry, this feeling is completely natural,...

Reverse Culture Shock: The Unexpected Obstacle

Everybody knows that it’s normal to feel a little uneasy when you first start teaching English abroad. It’s a sensory and cultural overload, so naturally it will take some time to adapt to your new surroundings. Although… it feels like by the time you’ve adapted to living and working overseas, its time to come home again! But what most people aren’t prepared for is reverse culture shock! Hello Andy how are you doing? have you passed the TEFL course, if so well done I am struggling and not to sure if I can carry on to be honest, I passed the Grammar and the weekend course now on module 4 on the dreaded 60 hour course.

Kind Regards from Ray

Hey Andy,

Thanks so much for the livemocha link its FAB!!! ive been learning phrases and have connected to several spanish speaking people - one even lives in Ecuador which, as you know is my favoured destination :)

There are also some brain training excersises to do which im finding very helpful. Thank you so much x

Best Wishes

Nickie

How did you get this job?

The links you have given me are very incouraging and exciting at the same time. I was sort of surprised you worked for this company I thought you were just one of us crazy people wanting to teach over seas. I have been looking at different websites for prices of courses and found another thats cheaper than this one for a 120 hour course. Why should I do this one instead? Nayda

Hı thanks for postıng. Im lookıng and ı want to really teach ın Thaıland and Brazıl but do you need degree do you know? Im plannıng to start ın 2 yrs maybe sooner and want to know ıf u no a really good websıte to fınd jobs please

Thanks

Hi Andy

Thanks for being the first to post a comment on my profile :) (Oh and yes its a toothbrush - oral hygiene, very important haha)

I'm thinking Ecuador for a placement, i'm a wildlife photographer amongst other things and what better place to photograph wildlife in any spare time that I have? (I've also always wanted to visit the Galapogos Islands).

I am hoping to do the longer course that TEFL offer and also study some basic Spanish too so that i can be well prepared :) I'm very excited and scared at the same time but i know i'll just love teaching as soon as i get to grips with everything. I love learning new cultures and am a very humble and spiritual person which keeps me open minded and willing to learn lots of new things.

I'm having a great time corresponding with other like minded people here and am quite surprised at how many are around the same age as me :)

Thanks again for your comment - hope to hear from you again

All the best

Nickie

Hey Andy !

I wouldn't say that Britain's better or worse than France really ! The only thing that's nice here is the weather Haha !

Thanks a lot for the links, exactly what i need.

All the best.

William.
