Well, the money is paid, the vaccines are started, prices have been researched for flights, and I now feel utterly broke, but utterly thrilled all at the same time! Thailand in October, its hard to get my head around. But the mere thought of all the things I am going to experience, and all the places I am going to see is enough to cause butterflies and the head to spin (although maybe thats just all the drugs from this morning's vaccine appointment). It just makes going to the menial sales assistant job more bearable, and the spiralling balance on the bank account less important.
It has even changed the way I shop for clothes. Every trip into a clothes shop results in me saying 'ah but thats too heavy to be worn in 30 degree Thai heat'. I have managed to find a pair of linen white trousers, a white dress and a few shorts and t-shirts. But I have even been told not to bring many clothes, and to instead save the clothes money until I arrive over there, and I will apparently get clother suited to the climate for a fraction of Irish prices (even compared to Penneys! Shocking)
So now, all thats left to do for the minute is figure out what day to fly into Bangkok (on or before the 10th I have been told) and also to sort all the paper work out, and top up my 120 hour course with a 20 hour add on to meet requirement. Busy bee me be.

Hey there lady, just replying to your message that you sent me on my blog post here...
I chose to each in Bangkok because it is the central hub of South East Asia. Therefore there are a lot more opportunities here and the pay is better. I started off here as I thought it would be a good place to get experience. However I actually love living in Bnagkok. There is always so much happening and it has a real exciting buzz about it. However, not everyone likes Bnagkok - I guess it's not for everybody so you'll just have to see for yourself when you get here. I also like to think that whilst I wokr in a big busy city... I am not too far away from a beach or a chilled out place in Thailand so when I go it's still like a little holiday and the novelty hasn't worn off. :)
One thing I will say to you is... You're young and female and TEFL qualified, therefore you will have NO problem at all getting a job. Young female teachers are the most sought after in Thailand and you will find that as you apply for jobs, there will be job offers being thrown at you left, right and centre.
There are lots of ways in finding a job... Check out www.ajarn.com for job offers as I applied through there.
Ahhh another one who is making the move to Thailand! All I can say is that I know EXACTLY what you're going through right now, all the excitement, emotional stuff, nervousness... I had it all when I was getting prepared for Thailand!
I have been living inThailand since November 2011 and I have been teaching for the past 6 months. If you have any questions or anything you wanna know about Thailand then don't hestitate to ask me as I am happy to help!
Are you going as part of the Thailand Internship? I never went with an internship in the end, I just got my TEFL and winged it on my own! It was all a very easy process and I had no problem at all finding a job!
Good luck to you and I hope you enjoy your adventure!
Hey Chloe!! I am living in Offaly with the parents at the moment, but I grew up in Dublin. But i have gotten the first rabies and Hep A and B this morning. I think there is no major rush on the vaccines, except for the HepA and B, they need to be three which go 1 day, three months and 6 months, so I have to get my last one over there. I suppose its good to get them done with quickly though. But i havent done a cover letter yet, I presume u mean the one in the forms after you pay, the 300 - 500 word one? I work full time so I wont be thinking about it until my next day off on Thursday. But its mad exciting isnt it!! :-)
Hi Amy, Where you from in Ireland?? I'm headin to Thailand in October too through the internship!! :) Just wondering what you included in your Cover letter?? What vaccines have you got already?? Still have all this to do!! :(
