Ok, now that my 120 hour course was completed over the summer, I am now faced with decisions. I am finished college at the end of this year, coming out (hopefully) with a 2.1 in a Bachelors in English and History from an Irish University. Now I have to think about where I am going to head off to next year, hopefully anytime from June onwards.
I am considering Spain, as I would like to acquire the language and I have always loved the culture and people. But I have absolutely no idea whether there are good opportunities out there for a someone like me with no teaching experience.
Thailand is also an option .....
Also I am thinking about Japan, and again have the same problem. Also I have no idea about where to even start looking in Japan. I wouldnt mind a small town, somewhere not as crowded and crazy as a big city like Tokyo, but then again maybe a city would be better for a first time teacher ..... ugh decisions!!
Anyone any advice??

Hey, thanks everyone for your comments, they really are helping me. Bazteach, I am not looking for a teaching job until next summer (I am really thinking ahead here). But ye I would be interested in Seville, and I will take a look at your 'Come TEFL With Me', I really appreciate it :-)
Why don't you try Seville? I've been here for 6 years, it's a city and there are a lot of opportunites, you might not find much until after xmas though so it depends when you're looking to start. Have a look at my Come Tefl with me in...Spain for more details. Good luck.
Hey Amy,
Congratulations on completing your 120 hour course! Double congratulations on coming close to your graduation!
Can I ask you, have you considered working in Korea? It is a popular place for first time teacher and the money and benefits are great! Of course, you will also have other asian countries such as Japan and Thailand only a few hours away on the plane. Korea has so much culture and there is so much to see during your time off. I have been here over three years now and have loved every minute of it!
I am more than happy to answer any questions you might have regarding Korea. Feel free to drop me a line:
Good luck!
Steve :)
Hi Amy. I've been living in Spain for nearly five years now and am just doing my TEFL course. Now is a good time to come to Spain if you want a job which requires no experience as the government has just started compulsory English from the age of three. They are desperate for English teachers so often don't ask for experience. Good luck in wherever you choose.
Hello Amy! I'm here to help don't worry!
It's a strange place to be, when you can't choose where to go! Some people might think it's brilliant having the whole world to choose from, but it can be so frustrating! Too much to choose from!
Hopefully this fandangled section of our TEFL blog should help! You can hear from people who are really TEFLing right now in a variety of destinations http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-blog/category/real-teflers-really-tefling/?source=cb
Take your time to read them through and make a list of the things that appeal to you and the things that don't appeal you about that destination, then you could also check out the TEFL jobs guide and make a list of the comparative salaries too here http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-jobs-abroad/
Take it one destination at a time, don't skip between them or you'll lose focus!
Hopefully this helps you, but come and chat on Chalkboard any time for more help!
Katie :)
