I was reading your topic about the Tattoos. Many of my Chinese friends just say Woahhh! Very Cool :p
I would just apply the same rules there as we do here if you can. Obviously it might be hard to in the summer.
I am also heading off to China early next year. Debating whether to go Early Jan as I would prefer time to settle in, rather than turn up Feb and go OMG lessons start tomorrow! Or something crazy lol. I have many friends in China, so I guess I am comfortable travelling alone and without the Internship.
Maybe we can stay in touch, as that would be cool. I wish you all the best!
Thats some amazing ink. Where you get them done? You should check out Indonesian art and the tattoos they have here. Some sweet tribal work.
good luck teaching in Japan with that tattoo...they will probably march you straight back onto the next plane out! unfortunately, they think only "yakuza" (jap mafia) have tattos there. Don't know about China, but I would start by hiding it under clothing until you get the job....cheers
Hi Amber,
My number one piece of advice to you is to start learning Chinese now! Very few people in China can speak English (except in Shanghai), so the simplest phrases will come in handy. Second, relax and remember you're in a different country, and things will be different from back home. I taught for one term in China. I would still probably be there, if I didn't come back to finish my B.A. I miss China very much. Anything else you wanna know, I'd be glad to share.
I used to watch a lot of anime back in the day but i because there's so many to watch i just got lazy and stopped watching it. I used to help my mate design a couple of his tattoos. i think out of the 30 designs i've done he chose 1 which was a tiger mixed with a chinese dragon. He wanted me to create sleeves for him but that was going to take way too much time.
working in japan will be my final destination and hopefully i could make a living over there once i get enough experience from working in other parts of asia.
as for your sessions good luck on your tree tattoo. it be interesting to see what the finish article would look like.
That's some mad tattoo you got there!!! wicked!!! how long did it take you to get that done. How many sessions did it take you altogether. I was a few seconds away from getting my back done but chickened out.I've never seen a squid as a tattoo before. That's quite unique. I see you into your anime. I did a piece as part of my last year at uni. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66UhpTXn30g
let me know what you think. I think you'll recognise one or 2 clips which i had to show in my project. cheers!
Hey guys! I'm really hoping to be teaching in China by the end of this year or the beginning of next year. Any advice, suggestions, recommendations or tidbits about your experience are all welcome! I'm not sure if I'm going to do the internship or just go with an agency. Time will tell. I look forward to making new friends on here and hearing your stories. :)
