Visa

Finally got my Invitation letter. I love how its called an "Invitation" letter. Anyway i went to the Manchester Embassy on the Tuesday and got it back by Friday. I got my travel insurance too so i'm all set. The pre departure letter from TTC got me excited too. Just seeing the hotel in Bejing looks unreal. And the Itinerary of what we will be doing was a breath of fresh air, just to know SOMETHING of what to expect was a comfort. Great wall of china on the 24th!! Cant wait. See you all there. x

Hi Sylvia

Oh how depressed your message has made me (in a good way) it was acutually last August that I did the Internship in China. I have two words for you..... DO IT. I had the most wonderful time of my life, yes the Chinese are very disorganised etc but you get used to it. The kids are generally wonderful and China is amazing. I cannot reccomend it enough. The monthly salary I received was just enough and only once i had to dip in to my own account as I was going to visit Shanghai over the Holidays. I even had money left over from my own savings and spent a few months in Thailand and Cambodia, again which I cant reccomend enough. We got very well looked after throughout the intership in China, and i struck up a good friendship with the i-to-i / TTC people they were always available to help. I really wish i was still there. the biggest spend with the TEFL course itself and obviously flights but other than that it wasnt a major problem. I was really freaking out before i began the teaching, but soon realised that i had nothing to worry about, the Chinese are so relaxed (maybe too relaxed) i got to do all my own lessons about whatever i wanted, and only coming up to the Halloween and Christmas hoildays did the school ask me to do specific lessons. I had Primary age which I was unsure of but it was a lot of fun and the kids (in the public schools) were generally well behaved but I soon learned that the Chinese dont think its rude to talk in class while the teacher is giving a lesson, but after sending one out of the class it soon calmed down (a little). You have really cheered me up, its so good to reminise about it all. Any more questions let me know. You should do it, honestly it was the best thing i have ever done with my dull life. Take care x
