Resume---ARRRRRR!!

So i started to write my Resume the other day to look for teaching jobs... I looked over the net to see if i could find some guild lines on what to write and where... ha that so funny.. I have had no teaching experiences but I'm OVER qualified in management, i could run a night club or a special event with my eyes closed but... I'm guessing that my future employers don't want to read about that.. SO MY QUESTION IS: WHAT TO WRITE IN THE BLANK SPACES... They say to keep your resume to 1 page easy.. since i was 18 i have known only the night club industry BUT its time to chase another dream i want to teach english oversea!!

HOW DO I WRITE A RESUME THAT STILL SOUNDS LIKE I KNOW WHAT IM DOING....

Hey,

Don't panic! I totally agree with spiwak - your management experience is really useful and you'll have loads of transferable skills you can apply to teaching, which employers will want to hear about, promise!

If you've run club nights you're obviously organised, with good leadership skills, which both translate well into the classroom. If you want, you could even do a skills-based CV rather than a traditional one. And for each skill back it up with where you've demonstrated it in clear, simple English.

There's some more good tips in this article: http://www.eltworld.net/blog/2009/04/6-simple-reasons-why-your-tefl-resume-sucks/.

Good luck - let us know how you get on!

I'd add the experience of all the management... shows you know how to be in control and work with different situations.  My previous work before was all in admin and accounting. I added it all.  Landed me business English classes and helping to formulate new ones with the school I'll be working at in Ukraine in the fall.  It can't hurt you, I promise.
