secret friend

In the week before Christmas, most of my classes have been playing secret friend.  The version they play here is different to what we did in Spain at Pueblo Ingles.  There, we gave our secret friend a few small but cheap or free presents during the week, usually by getting someone else to deliver it.  Or we do them some small favours incognito, then we revealed our identities on the last day.  Here they buy a gift (up to $5), and give it to them on the last day of term.  But first you have to describe your secret friend (in glowing terms, of course), and see if the class can guess who it is before handing over the gift.  I only took part with two classes: I gave some make up and a wallet and recieved a photo frame and a handbag.  It was all really sweet.  A few of my students bought me gifts of chocolate, and one gave me an electric kettle! Must have been cheap though cos it only worked once.

How many different versions of secret friend are there?  I`d be interested to hear any others that teachers have taken part in.  I hope you all have a really great Christmas and new year! Feliz Navidad to everyone xxx
