Thanks, I have looked at those but felt underqualified, no degree = job hunting frustration, but I just found what looks like a good agency called Teachermexconnect; they've got jobs I haven't seen on the others and not all require more than TEFL. You have to give a one-off fee but they say they'll look over your C.V. first and tell if they think they can find you work. Anyone know anything bad about them, let me know...?
My first lesson today and I got the times mixed up! Half an hour late! But it didn't matter, the tutor was really pleased to see me and I helped her teach prepositions. The students are mostly middle aged Sikh women who have lived here for some time, but have different skill levels and problems. Most of them have never been to school, but they are pretty keen and intelligent and I enjoyed it. Then we had a lovely curry and fruit for lunch... good stuff!

I agree with i-to-i here, DON'T PAY ANY UP-FRONT FEES.
I am without a degree, hence doing the MA TESOL. I worked in China from 2007-2009. I had to work in the North because the South is graduates only.

I wouldn't have thought of it myself but someone likes it there.. the agency seems to be a blag though according to another thread on the same forum, so I think you'd have be there and be lucky. Never mind ,nice to dream isn't it?
Wow the caribbean does sound amazing... but not sure how much call there'd be for English teachers, as a lot of the islands have English as their main language. Definitely check it out though and let us know what you discover!
Hi, yes I think chrome was to blame but your suggestion did work eventually. Not the first problem I've had with that browser but it is fast.
I'm trying a few forums to ask about Teachermexconnect. They do seem a bit too good to be true, but if they can get me in the Caribbean well... is that just a fantasy?
I will check those links, thanks.
Hey,
Glad it went well today (even if you did get the times mixed up!)
I've never heard of Teacher Mex Connect, but I'd tread carefully whenever you're being asked to hand over money before you get a job secured. If you're interested in Mexico you might want to chat to these guys who are out there at the minute to see if they've heard anything about them: http://www.tefl-chalkboard.com/study and http://www.tefl-chalkboard.com/littleja55. If you're keen to use the agency, just make sure you get them to put you in touch with people they've found jobs in the past to make sure they're legit.
Another option if you're keen on South America is that I know we've just secured some more contracts in Ecuador through our job placement service. It's free to use as you've done the 120 hour weekend course and you don't need a degree for Ecuador. All the details are here: http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-jobs-abroad/tefl-ecuador.html
Best of luck with it all!
P.S - glad you managed to get back on the site - was it Chrome playing up in the end?!
