I am a 21 year old who has just graduated from The University of Manchester, and am dying to start teaching English in Hong Kong! I fell in love with it when I visited with my boyfriend at the time in 2008.
I am a bit clueless about the whole process of looking for a job vacancy over there and constantly searching 'Teach English Hong Kong' on Google, though obviously this isn't too helpful! Would love to speak to anyone thinking of doing the same thing, or hear peoples' previous experiences!
Any advice is always appreciated too! =) X

Log in to leave a comment or Create an accountHi Alex~ Thanks for your message. I didn't even finish my TEFL course, working my way up from back alley educational centers (cash in hand, which is not uncommon) to ones that pay more (usually still cash in hand). Landed some after school programs through some agencies (who I can reffer you to). I eventually landed a job in a Kindergarten where I have a good contract (paid holidays). My hours and sallary slowly increased while there. This is how I did it.
I have an English language social club in Hong Kong called the North District Social Club which also has a Fan Page. There are many English speakers all together in my part of Hong Kong. Got them together which is nice because this area wasn't really known for English speakers. Means we can network away from the main part of the city more. Many English teachers to, good to network and find help from more local people (as well as a great way to make friends *yay*).

I am so desperate to start teaching English in Hong Kong - it is something I have wanted to do for years and now that I have finished university I am so excited at this possibility.
However, I am a bit clueless about going about this - I have basically just been searching 'teaching english in hong kong' on google for weeks and obviously it doesn't seem to be very productive. So, I was wondering if anyone had any advice, and could maybe help me out a little bit?
I absolutely love Hong Kong - I fell in love with the place when I visited in 2008 and having been dying to get back ever since.
I am also in the middle of completing my 120hr TEFL course - with my classroom course in manchester this weekend.
would love to speak to anyone doing anything similar!!
